smaller pulley

so I have brother and he also have a vortech v3 on his coyote and he just switched to a smaller pulley he said he will give me his old one for free. its a 3.6 ive heard the one for the ipf kit is 3.8. do you think the 3.6 will fit there both v3s and what can I expect from a smaller pulley. gains in boost and hp? what else? looking to get some insight as this is something I don't know a lot about.

If it is a 6-rib and it is centered it will work, but the pulley's from Vortech have an offset so 1/4" has to be cut from the big end to get it to center on the IPF bracket. 1 step down is about 1-2 PSI gain, I run a 3.48" pulley and get 11-13 PSI, depending on the air.

For a 3.48" yes, the IPF belt is pushing the limits, might be safe with a 3.6" pulley.

The pulley itself, you will see it when you do it, hard to explain.
