Hail dent damage
Hey all... Pretty salty Camaro owner here. This weather storm hit and threw baseball sized stones at my car 2 nights ago. No warning, no way to prevent it, and no where I could have gone. Worth risking personal injury to move it? I have free health insurance...
What's the best thing to do? I did a search and no one has posted much on this topic for a year. I was thinking of trying to work some of the dents myself, but the only option without removing things are the surface dent pullers. Everything seems welded together around the body, I can't figure how anyone could get underneath the hood or trunk to lift them out. I have a meet with an adjuster Sat. Guess we'll see what they say... I have a 1k deductible and am going to change it to see if they let me haha... It's a 2011, I paid 18k for it 2 Septembers ago and it's 80k miles. |

Wow, that is terrible, sorry to see. There are PDR companies that do hail damage, I would guess that would be one choice. Again, sorry about your car!

Good PDR guy can do wonders. Even if insurance doesn't work out it'd probably be worth your time to give one a try.
Heard about that down there; really bad storm. Saw pictures of houses where it had went through roofs and damaged floors inside. Hell of a storm.

Your right...a guy I work with has a friend that has done a few these. He has worked for a few dealerships with cars that have suffered some hail damage.....some of those look pretty deep.

You guys just recommend replacing parts on the car before trying to get them out with a 120$ PDR kit...?

Some of those dents look real deep, and if you have no experience with this yes. If you have all the time in the world to try and get them out...well I guess you could try. Buy used or new panels have them painted off the car and bolt them on...How is the tops of the doors and all the moldings? Are you not going through insurance?

I think you are looking at a $6,000 or higher job, so $1,000 deductible is not a bad deal. |

Why not go through insurance? Surely that's the best option for that much damage

I do have insurance. I mentioned I meet with the adjuster Sat. So I'll see what he says. I just don't want to go thru the hassel of getting a rental and all that bs. I just bought one of the DIY kits, so we'll have a go and see how it works out. They are all pretty much the same.
I spoke with a dent repair guy the other day, he said at least a few thousand. I have a 1k deductible bc I have used insurance 2 times (this being the second) in 6 years. Like those ****ers are making so much off of me it's nuts. If it's 6k I guess I'll bite the bullet but I'll at least try for 150$ bc I do actually want a side project right now. And it looks like pro's use similar things. Makes no sense to me to start buying up all these parts. That's gonna probably get expensive and be over 1k and in that case, I might as well get my insurance to do it. |
