Shewww! I was worried for a brief moment that you were going to announce that they were shutting down in order they find the Blue Oval Mole known to be working in disguise among the Generals gang. Then I realized they would have never passed the IQ entrance exam needed to find gainful employment....... JK.

Regal isn't due to start production until waaaaay later. Same with XTS.
I believe you hit it on the head.

These companies, GM and Chrysler, just came out of bankruptcy... that means, they now must run much more lean! ...And that means, less weeks of inventory on hand. And with August sales in the crapper... that means, they need to stop production.

And that means... they are taking things serious again!

Run these companies properly and they will flourish once again! Run them into the ground, again... and there won't be anyone to bail them out this time!

Based on August Camaro sales around 6,400 units and units manufactured over 10,000, and going into the fall season, I believe inventory adjustment was needed. According to Automotive News weekly paper that I receive, as of July 1, 2010, there was a 60 day supply (18,100 inventory units) available. 2nd behind the Corvette with 105 day supply (5,900 inventory units) for Chevrolet cars. Ford and Dodge have cut production of the Mustang & Challenger for the last 4 months.

With GM cutting Camaro production, this eliminates the need for rebates or low interest rates. I would like to see GM put either 1.9% interest rate or rebate on Camaro when the new GM incentives are announced on Tuesday, 9/8/10. My 2011 1SS SGM finally shows in-transit via truck today. Hope to have next week some-time. 0%-1.9% GM financing would be great for 48-60 months.....for everyone and stimulate Camaro sales.

Thanks,

Dave

Inventory adjustment is probably right, they told us 2 weeks ago we would be down a week in Nov. and last night they added the first 2 weeks of Jan. We run a 3 shift operation, so we usually use the time to do some projects, nothing major , maybe a few line changes.

That's what my guess would be. Have they started production on the 2011's yet? Perhaps swapping out machines for upgrades or something.

It is NOT for "inventory adjustment".

Many dealers are selling them faster than they can get them, and need MORE MORE MORE! In fact, locate services are paying invoice for them from dealers willing to give them up (yes, that means with no work at all, a dealership can unload all his Camaro's, and still make a profit on them!). They in turn, sell to dealers in need. SAD thing is, when dealers pay more, YOU pay more. It seems that in the NW and the SE USA are the ones with not enough cars.

Inventory "adjustment" is offering $1500 in GM accessories with any 2010 Camaro, at your best negotiated price.

Inventory adjustment for 2 weeks would be HUGE. That would likely mean the car has rebates.

Has anyone got a rebate yet?

More than likely putting equipment in the plant to support future models.

I haven't looked for the official answer, but I believe Scotty is correct. When Scotty can offer a $2,500 rebate, then maybe it's inventory adjustment.

Paying workers to NOT work isn't good at all.
