The best drivers in the world crash. When a master of motorsport, someone who can truly drive at 10/10ths, can crash and even die while engaged in a race, how can anyone point fingers at an experienced racer that happened to rack up a new z/28 and claim he was not a good driver or didn't know what he was doing? The best that ever lived crashed. Clark. Rindt. Senna. Dead. Greats like Stewart crashed very heavily- Jackie Stewart, whose driving style was so smooth the flow of electrons looked ragged by comparison.

The dreaded words you never want to have to say so far as the race track part, but at least he was okay and that is the good part. Thanks OnStar......."Good-Bye."

Very well said. There is also a saying that there are two types of race drivers, those who have crashed, and those who will crash. It’s pretty clear that the arm chair critics in this thread have never turned a wheel on a track in competition.

Awesome sounding car! Sometimes you got to pay to play. Nature of the beast.

The car can be ordered without air conditioning..... they should have an OnStar delete, like the old days when they had the heater delete and radio delete.

As well as the engineers might have said "gee, we sell a $76k car with OnStar, the Z/28 should have it too", what they SHOULD have said was "this thing is practically a single purpose race car, few people who buy this are going to use it as a daily grocery getter. This car doesn't need OnStar"

Agreed.. there are LOTS of things they could have deleted on this car. I laugh when I read about it being a "stripped down" race car because it doesn't have AC.

Not likely to be totaled. I hit a concrete wall with my driver's side and it was $8000 damage. I hit a lot harder than this guy did and airbags didn't deploy. Needed front bumper, fender, fender liner, door, rocker panel, control arms on front, and both wheels replaced. Now it needs repaint because the shop did such a poor job on paint. I've got more visible chips on the front end in one year than the original paint got in four years.

Don't they all come standard without A/C? No need to order without it.

If you want a no AC car, you better order it, but you might be too late.

1) Dealers ordered very few if any no AC cars. Ones you might find on the web are mostly (all?) ordered cars that are awaiting delivery.

2) Some dealers will not even take no-AC orders, just in case they get stuck with the car.
