ACS upper rear quarter vents

When i first saw them on the new stingray i loved them ACS made them and i said time to break out the air saws, files and die grinders

Pretty straight forward, lay the template, cut a hole and install vent . ok, ok its a little more than that but I'm happy with the out come .

i first set in the passenger side and the rear of the vent was not sitting completly flush, i have to remove it, clean it and reinstall, but the 2nd time was a charm:headband:,
the driver side didn't sit as flush in the rear so i had to file off a little at a time until it was seated good

it took some time as i added lights, also you want to get the holes cut, make sure everything fits well, then i would paint the vents and then next day install them.

overall i very happy with the outcome.

Does look great -- but still think the price is steep considering what I got the Hex Vents for -- painted.

May have to build these myself -- did fiberglass work for 8 years so -- who knows!

Lupe, what type of adhesive do you use for that? Almost looks like JB Weld ;o)

Still wanted to say that is a very nice job!

Hi Don, its a 2 part mix that ACS supplies with the kit it dries hard similar to jb weld not soft like a silicon.

thanks! I used flox with my layups so I figured it was some 2 part epoxy system. you guys do really nice work! I think I'll see if I can create molds and see how that goes.

Do you keep the templates? How big are the openings you cut out (if you're allowed to divulge that info)?

what happens when your LED's go out? I don't see any option on how to replace them. Also, besides looks, Does this do anything? I know on the C7 they are functional.

just looks, but if you look at my car it all about looks i don't track or road coarse, when i drive i drive chill
if my lights go out i will either remove the vent ( i did once already cuz after it dried i realized it wasn't seated on the rear part or just cut the wire to the other side
my oldest leds are over 4 years old, they all still work hopefully they will continue to work for years to come. i drive it 2-3 times a month, no rain, so they should last

ACS said it IS FUNCTIONAL on there website

Quote: "Rear Quarter Upper ports are functional inlet ports designed to inhale fresh air and redirect to the rear braking system for enhanced cooling. Air inlet direct fresh air directly to the rear brakes via a series of cooling hoses and air deflectors to be installed on the rear quarter panel." -end quote

Something tells me that 3/4" hole in the bottom of the vent is going to do VERY little in terms of venting anything.

As long as you put these things on for purely aesthetic purposes then I guess go for it - but I'm not a big fan of taking chunks out of panels for aesthetics unless it's bumping up performance of some kind. Why not just use some 3M double sided foam tape and just stick the trim piece on? Same difference IMO...

Boy, now that I think about it, that is an excellent point.

For $1000 (kit, painted, etc.), I can get new performance tires (or close to that price since I have ZL1 wheels), upgrade cam, or a host of other items that would actually 'help' the car's performance vs 'looks'.

I think I'll wait and see if these come down. The hex vents help with cooling so that made sense to me...

Whipple81 -- thanks for the insight...
