Oil Cooler Block Off Issue

Can anyone tell me how this coolant port works...........I'm wondering if I can bottom out a plug in this hole or if I need to leave room for coolant to flow by?

Thanks

it opens straight into the block so yeah...it's open behind it...did you try wrapping a sh!t load of teflon pipe tape around the threads? I will be doing the same mod soon...and it is currently leaking a bit....

and I don't like havin to do stuff over again!

keep us posted!

peace

I've tried pipe dope and thread tape still didn't work. Tried a larger aluminum plug instead of the brass one and it still leaked. I can tighten this aluminum plug down more but if it bottoms out I am worried coolant cant travel by it.

Its a water passage for the block, don't plug it. Are the threads buggered?

that is a known issue from the factory for it to be xthreaded or not torqued. thankfully mine wasnt torqued. removed it with my fingers.

There seems to be a stop tab in the back of the hole. Does anyone have a picture of this or diagram of the coolant flow that will show this tab? Mine is no longer there (shop decided to cut it out) and I think it's being blocked off.

are the threads stripped? if not last ditch use some JB weld! and use the original nut, the shoulder design stops it from going in to far...good luck!

peace...

Yes threads were so trashed from the factory that I bought a bigger plug (1” NPT) and stuck it in there. Bottomed the plug out and shot coolant everywhere. Backed off the plug this morning and used some rear diff gasket maker to seal the plug. So far I’ve gotten lucky this am and things are working great. I’ve got a tiny drip that I can live with and some stop leak may seal it. I didn’t want to pull this motor over something so small.
