Door handle key cylinder popped off... wtf - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I just had my passenger door handle cylinder (where the key would normally insert into) pop off. Didn't shut the door hard, just closed it and POP! if fell out...

Dealer didn't have this part in stock - kinda figured that - so they ordered me a new one. I did find them online at GM Parts. Apparently, there are clips on the end of the cylinder piece that broke which would normally snap into place and hold it in.

I'm kinda concerned that someone could perhaps use the hole to pop open my door now... Has anyone else had this happen to them?

look for a small hole in the sheet metal. Someone likely tried to break into your car FYI

No one tried to break in. Theres no damage or pry marks, etc. It's popped off twice now so they ordered me a complete new internals for the whole doot handle.

I'd be worried they'd come back later to finish the job. Sucks, man. Did uncheck ur garage door too, for marks?

I double checked the car and the garage door for damage. No one tried to steal it. It was totally a defective internal part that won't hold the door cylinder in. If someone had tried to get into the car, the alarm would go off and/or there'd likely be damage. If someone tried to get into my garage, the house alarm would go off and there'd be a dead body in my garage with about 30 7.62x39 holes in him.

I had someone pop the lock cylinder out of my blazer to get in it...I'm sure someone could get in that way...but if someone really wants in your not going to be able to stop them anyways ifyour not there
