it is not the water-base paint. It is the inconsistent Quality Control at the Camaro plant, period. I haven't noticed a paint issue on mine but there are just way too many new Camaros being reported with paint defects.

This is meant with no disrespect, but I can't even count the number of times you have chimed into a post of someone who has a problem, stating that your camaro is perfect. I don't really have a point, but wow, you sure got an immaculate camaro off the assembly line?

When waxing my car for the first time I noticed there is dirt in my paint at the bottom of the passenger door. So much for the state of the art paint facility. I have heard nothing but complaints from other camaro owners and there paint quality.

When is that happening? And why does Cadi have a better paint booth?

I only chime in when the conversation starts to lean towards ALL Camaros having a problem which simply isn't the case.

Misconceptions about quality and the frequency of a problem sometimes cause people to make bad decisions like avoiding buying Camaros for the wrong reasons.

Out of the 150,000 Camaros built, how many have this issue? Is it a hundred? Maybe three hundred? How about a thousand? That's still less that one percent, but someone reading this thread may think its one in three.

I hope to think that my 'lucky' build isn't that lucky at all... maybe 4 out 5 are like mine (?)

So you never looked at the car before you bought it?

And as much as some of you hate to hear it, my paint is immaculate and I could not hope for a better factory paint job. I am sorry for those of you who got substandard paint, but always check the car out closely before signing on the dotted line.
Of course problems can show up after the purchase, like chips, flaking etc, but clearcoat runs, dirt under the paint and things like that were present on the day you bought the car.

My paint has dirt all thru it and fish eyes. Heck my front passenger quarter panel does not even match the rest of the car.

My dealer was supposed ot fix it but they keep dropping the ball.

Mine has problems all over too, dirt painted over above the pass sd window, looks like a hair painted over near the spoiler,(hope it wasnt a curly) and I have tons of these spots about 1/16th to 3/8ths of an inch that look like its cracking and is flaking down to bare metal, the body shop's advice was to let it fall apart before I try to get it fixed because if not they can only touch up the cracks and it wont be right. Nice, soon my black SS will look like a jersey cow with all the spots

I havent noticed anything major with my paint as of yet. I do have 5-6 chips on the rear wheel wells (2800miles) Compared to my 2004 WRX Paint job this thing has a ferrari paint job. My WRX paint literally peeled off in many areas to reveal primer. I had to jump through so many hoops and get 5-6 written professional opinions before they'd touch up the car. I don't look forward to any future camaro paint issues.

P.S. if your dealers try to sell you this simonize crap for your paint to protect it DONT BUY IT! That crap cost me $1000 dollars for inside and out coverage and it does NOT work, careful with the factory car covers too,(another bad buy) mine scratched the crap out of my car and dulled all the outer edges, another $250 gone down the crapper!

My wife's 2001 Chevy Blazer's paint chips if you look at it wrong. My 2000 Z-28's(no longer with us) had a clear coat that I would describe as almost rubber like and never chipped.

My buddy Josh's Black SS is a bit bi-polar. It cant decide if it wants to have orange peel on one side or chipping on the other.

By my estimation..probably 10-15% of Camaro's are having very poor paint issues. My guess is in a hurry to meet demand they are rushing the cars out without properly checking them. It isnt the paint, my Challenger is painted in the exact same manner and paint type and has completely perfect paint.
