Finally got around to building my driveline

I bought a GForce 9" rear with Strange S-60 Pro-Iron S-Trac diff 4.11 gear ratio, 1500HP axles, and a 3.5" Dynotech driveshaft. I also bought a McLeod RXT clutch. It took 2 months to get the rear end because GForce is swamped right now building Mustang axles. Go figure.

I did the clutch first. Clutch work on jack stands sucks. All I got to say about that. I used the McLeod RXT, SNL billet bearing support, a new GM slave, new pilot bearing, and a Tick speed bleeder. I popped the OEM clutch return spring out. It cost me $50 to get the clutch balanced at a local shop here in Wichita. They drilled a few small spots in the flywheel (SPEC) and welded a little weight onto the pressure plate.

The clutch chatters a little occasionally if I drive it stupid. Like slipping it for several seconds, but nothing like when I first put it in. If I stay on top of my game, the clutch is absolutely perfect. I never realized what I was missing with the stock setup. I think everyone should pop that dumb ass return spring out of their car. It completely gets rid of that double engagement feeling that the OEM setup has. I wish I would have done it years ago, even with the stock clutch.

Me and a buddy installed the 9" rear over a weekend. I noticed the other day that I was seeping gear oil from the driver's side axle seal. We put the axle center sections on the wrong sides. For the record. The skinny one goes on the driver's side. It's also longer. I put all 500 break in miles on the car with the axles installed wrong. I was even doing hard, no-lift shifts and beating on it after the break in with them in the wrong spots. It did no damage. Apparently in addition to being almost unbreakable, they are also idiot-proof haha.

I love the way the car feels with all the driveline slop taken out. Solid bushings in the diff. I can feel everything through the shift knob. I think some people don't like that, but I sure do. Once the car gets so loud, by feel is the only way to early detect that something is wrong. Between the solid driveline and the wideband, I don't have to worry about listening to the car for problems anymore.

I also did +40mm offset ZR1 wheels on all four corners. 295/45R18 Nitto 555 on front, and 305/45R18 MT ET streets on the rear. I finally have traction and peace of mind for track days. I had to grind down the nub on the strut tower and use a 5mm spacer for the fronts. The rears required nothing for my 2012.

Can't wait for fall. I want low 11s.

Here is the car after all the work getting shot for Camaro Now.

Awesome! Glad you like the rear. Take a look at everything if you could to make sure nothing got damaged from being installed wrong. Everything is uber heavy duty so everything is probably fine but wouldn't hurt to check.
Let me know when that article comes out.

Thanks
Chris

I just got home from GForce. I ended up taking the inner stub up to their shop so they could inspect it. The bearing was separated, so we pressed the old one off and a new one on (free of charge I might add). I should be good as new, and a little wiser as well. Thanks Chris and Collin. Much appreciated.

Your photo shoot background looks a lot better than what he went with on my shoot, a old warehouse building for mine, I'm sure the pictures came out nice with the open country in the background.

How much power you putting out in your quest for low 11"s?

I have done everything up to the heads so far. I figure it's probably in the 470 range. I never put it on a dyno. It trapped 117 last year with a 2000+ DA, so I figure if I can learn to drive it and get out on a good day I should be able to get to 11.5. Who knows, maybe a little better with a good stiff wind from the south haha.

He told me he always shoots black cars at that park. Something to do with the way the sun works there in the evenings. I'm still waiting on him to get them edited so I can get my copies. It sure looked like he was getting some cool pictures.
