2011 Camaro Pricing

I'm looking at a 2011 1LT/RS Black on Black w/ Automatic Transmission and the MSRP is $27,525, and the dealer agreed to give me GM Preferred Pricing and the College Student Discount and from that they came up with $834.56 as the discount off sticker after those two discounts which i don't see as even being close to correct. Approximate out the door they quoted me at $29,040. Does that sound correct as far as the discount goes or are they lying to me ?

Yeah I'm running into the same thing. I work for a company that gets the GM supplier discount and also received an additional $500 off certificate from GM to use with the discount. I figured hey I can save a good chunk of money here. Not on the Camaro! The discount + $500 off only amounted to $1300 total. Granted any money off is great but how come I can save almost $8000 on a Silverado 2500 or $6500 on a Tahoe LTZ but only $1300 on a Camaro??

Preferred Pricing and College Grad discount is the same discount just a different name so your not getting two discounts, your getting one.

The discount amount is correct. The out the door price could be right but that depends on your sales tax rate and cost for tag and title.

b/c Tahoes and other big SUVs and trucks are 40-50K vehicles that have a bigger profit margin. It has zero to do w/ the Camaro being a hot car. There isn't any profit on the car.

Do you feel that the Camaro is overpriced?

As compared to its competitors no. In general yes because I feel everything is overpriced these days.

Preferred pricing is not below invoice. On the Camaro, Preferred pricing comes out to about $500 above invoice.

If your referring to Friends and Family discounts your are incorrect...

Friends and Family discount ranges around 200.00 to 300.00 below invoice. I just used it this year on a new SS and when I bought my Tahoe. I had all the print outw showing the List, Dealer invoice, and Dealer cost including hold backs

...

Friends and Family =/= Preferred Pricing.

Friends and Family = Employee Pricing

Preferred Pricing =/= Employee Pricing

Please get your terminology correct. There is enough misinformation on this site as it is.

Ok.. Let me see if I can help you understand my discount information.

I'm copying the info below right off the E-mail from GM regarding my Authorization code.

GM Family First Authorization Confirmation

Program Name: GM Supplier Discount for Friends Authorization Number: xxxxxxxxx - GSU Relationship: PROSPECT Redeem By: 11/29/2010

I pulled all the invoice information on the car before I bought it. I also had my wife's uncle pull information as well, who retired from GM. This type of discount ranges from 200.00 to 300.00 below invoice depending on the options and style. I bought my SS for right at 200.00 below invoice.

For GM employee's right now, it is like $1000 off GM preferred pricing on 2010's, and $250 off GM PP on 2011's
