no supported data found - grrrr
starting to hate this piece of crap mp3 player.
Sequence of events. 1. Got pdim update from dealership. 2. One problem was solved, I no longer had to remove and reseat the usb drive each time I got into the vehicle. 3. New problem, no tag info showing at all, only filenames of songs. 4. Took usb drive out, reformatted fat32 of course, re-added songs (only 700, all mp3, no protections). 5. Now it won't work at all. Just gives the above message. It's 3 am, I'm not going to fiddle with my battery, which btw is going to be horribly inconvenient because it's got a sub sitting on top of it with the power and ground screwed VERY tight to the amp because I get paranoid about that stuff coming loose. Will try it again tomorrow. I've about had it with this crap. |

You're using an mp3 player right, not a USB jump drive?
I'm experimenting with my USB jump drive right now. I've been getting that same message randomly, but only with one of my jump drives. The other one (exact same stick) always works and I'm checking to see if it's because I "named" it in "My Computer" So, I "named" the other one and I'm going to test and see if it still has any issues. I'm not sure if you can do this same thing with mp3 players, but as far as I can tell, non-iPod mp3 players are just basically a USB jump drive with proprietary software/firmware included so that you can simply plug in some headphones and listen to music stored on it. It's worth a shot

ok it's day 2, problem still happening. I'm renaming the volume back to what it was and putting a single folder back on the stick. I'm doing everything but unplugging the battery for now because that is just going to be the worst possible thing...
edit, that worked. But STILL NO MP3 TAGS. I'm using id3v1 or whatever. Like should be the easiest for even the most dated mp3 players to recognize, forgetting the obviousness that it worked before I got the pdim update. I guess I'll at least try adding more folders back onto the stick and hoping it doesn't break again. Last edited by Adam; 08-02-2010 at 11:32 AM. |

Ok, well I switched to id3v2.3 iso blah blah and it seems to like that much better. really odd. Will update if I get everything back on the stick and working with tags.

Ok so I started adding folders in slowly, 6 at a time. I add 14-20 or something, and it gives me the error. I then delete 2 at a time until the error goes away. I then re-add the same effing folders and the error doesn't reappear. It makes no effing sense.

No single song, folder, etc, seems to be the problem. I'm just copying the files over and over until they work, seems to be the only solution. It's unfortunate that each time I do this it takes about 5 minutes, and that's breaking it up into several sections. At this rate this will take me all day. It's tempting to go look for a new usb flash drive in case something might work better.

Got stuck and fed up. If there's no method that looks like it will lead to a solution than I just can't keep deleting and re-adding stuff. It's not working.
Going to try a second usb drive. |

I tried my gf's cruzer 4gb, and it worked perfectly, but it's hers and it's too small. So I bought an 8gb and am transferring now. Fingers are crossed.
fyi my old one was called 'imation', the new pdim software might just not like something about it. edit: new cruzer 8gb worked on first try with all songs loaded. out 20 bucks but at least this ordeal is over. Last edited by Adam; 08-02-2010 at 06:28 PM. |
