2010 2SS/RS Interior Ambient Lighting.

Do all the 10 2SS / RS models come with the interior ambient lighting? The guy I bought my car from mentioned my car had the IAL option... But you could barely see it. Have not fingered if my SS has the interior lighting or maybe it is turned off.

I have read the owners manual up and down.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Look in your cupholders, if you have two leds in them you have it.

The lighting is only on the doors, the cupholders have no LED's in the 2010 2SS/RS. Are you talking about the doors you can barely see or the dash?

Its the blue light comming from the doors. RS package comes with that.

If there were LEDs in the cup holders, they were homemade.

I love that soothing light from the doors and the red blue and white from the instruments. Being bathed in light at night is cool.

Not part of the RS package. LS, 1LT and 1SS did not have it, 2LT and 2SS did have it.

Edit: You know after typing that I wanted to confirm the accuracy, looked over the Camaro5 Wiki page and could not find any reference to ambient lighting at all. Can't seem to find confirmation. As I recall I was bummed because I liked the lighting but do not care for leather seats.

Edit 2: Seems the 2010 1LT (only) Synergy Green special edition was an exception and did have ambient lighting.

Edit 3: OK if you go to the 2010 Camaro brochure pdf, page 7 the picture legend states the following:

"center right: ambient lighting on 2lt
and 2ss door panels displays a soft glow
during low-light or evening driving."

Confirmed

You an turn the brightness up or down. There is a dimmer switch next to the headlight setting switch.

Correct. ABL only comes with the 2LT and 2SS package.

I got the dealer installed ambient LED lighting in my 2012 2SS. They installed a little push button switch next to the auxillary gauges on the driver side that changes the light from light blue to a brighter blue and then it changes it to a light red and then a brighter red and the last setting allows the lights to switch from both colors and brightness levels automatically. It works and looks pretty cool. It actually worked for a day and then stopped working when I got them installed and I took it back to the dealer and they fixed it no problem. I would like to see about putting an LED strip across the lip of the dashboard above the silver strip that runs across the front over to the instrument cluster. That would complete the look. You can get them done even cheaper aftermarket but, I got them to throw it in when I negotiated the price on the car when I bought it. It is a nice little subtle modification that enhances the interior.

I installed the ABL lighting on the dash like I think GM should have done. It's one of my favorite mods, really looks great at night.

I got the dealer to install ambient lighting too. I didn't try to find it on the U.S. site yet but it's listed on the canadian GM website.

Edit: just tried my link. You have to pick a year (2011) and a category (car), then I picked the camaro, and specified the SS coupe to get a list of available accessories. It's under lighting. My lights are in the cup holders and under the dash, both sides, dim or brighter in red or blue with a little push button control mounted on the console. I like it.

Go to the DIY section and there are complete instructions including where you can buy the parts. I used EL wire so I could get consistant lighting all the way across the dash. I bought the EL wire on eBay, it's pretty easy to find. If you have the ABL lighting on the doors look for blue/green color of EL wire.
