Anyone Pull Out Stock Stereo in a 2012
Hello everyone, I was wanting to put a different stereo in my 2012 Camaro SS. Something with a big screen with apple car play similar to the newer models. Has anyone done that? This stereo in this car doesn’t seem so simple to pull out and replace like most cars. If you have something like I’m describing post a pic! I appreciate it!

See my post "new setup" under the audio section of the forum. I didn't do the work myself as it required (the way I wanted it), several other components in addition to the head unit.

Swapping out for an aftermarket radio is pretty straight forward - check out the audio section which has really good info on the swap. You'll have several dash kits to choose from based on what your preferences are. Just a little cutting in the dash is necessary and you can still switch back to stock if you decide to sell the car.

It’s really not that bad. I changed mine out, just bought a dash kit that was complete with the wiring and the radio. The big thing is to make sure you have the panel pullers so you do not scratch up your interior with a screw driver, they are not expensive but the plastic tools make it so it does not scratch it up. Then you just match the radio wiring guide to the kit wiring guide, solder the connections and heat shrink them. Also now is the time to decide if you want to do a rear camera or not, if so its the time to do it whiile you are there. If you have any questions along the way hit me up.
