Do I need to do bushing timing if I'm not droping the car?

Hey all,


So I'm hoping to install my 1LE rear shocks/ZL1 rear sway bar on my 2010 SS tomorrow, but I'm not sure if I need to time my bushings or not. Is this a thing for lowered cars only, or should I do this with mine tomorrow?


I don't have access to a lift and this will be done on jacks/jackstands.

So, just want to make sure here, but I'll be replacing my rear lower control arms and end links with the newer versions to accommodate the ZL1 rear sway, still no reason to time the bushings?

Yes anytime you loosen those bushes, stock, lowered doesn't matter you must clock the bushes.

The last time I was in that situation, I didn't know anything about timing the bushings. I don't doubt that it should be done, but my experience was that not doing it had no effect.

It loads the suspension part if don't clock them and if your doing the control arms at a minimum you should clock them.

Too late, I installed everything this morning. I need to get an alignment, but it feels okay so far.

If you still need to get an alignment then that would be the best time to time/clock the bushings. Ask the mechanic to time the bushings and hopefully he'll know you mean, if not then basically he just needs to loosen the bolts for the bushings in question and jounce the car (or drive off the rack slowly and back on) then tighten up the bolts.

Your initial post says sway bar and shocks... I don't see any reason to clock bushings. If you change arms or other suspension components... yes, you should.

It sure does, but to install a ZL1 rear sway on a 2010 you need the newer 2012+ style rear lower control arms.
