Moving along with the chassis. Got the frame rails and stiffeners in and have mocked up the front and rear suspension. It's apart and on the frame jig for welding. Should be a rolling chassis by the weeks end. If everything goes good I may set the actual motor in so I can set ride height and pinion/motor angle. Here's a few pics of various stages of set up.

Could work in a pinch. Lol. Ask an old timer, you put a bottle or cup of water on various locations on the frame, you walk along the frame rails tapping it, watching for vibrations in the water to determine harmonics, then add a brace in that location to eliminate them.

We did that with our sprint cars years ago, that is funny, We also used 55 gallon drums filled with water and leveled the drums. Once level we locked them down, put our frame on the barrels (that had anchors for the frame), tacked the frame rails and off we went!

Love the old school ways sometimes ;o) Keep it up!

Got a lot done on the chassis. Front and rear suspensions are in place. Most of the bracing has been welded in. I have a few support brackets to remove and some chassis bracing to do but other than that I'm kind of on hold until I fit the body. It's tough to give it up during the summer so I'm going to hold off as long as I can but I need the body on the new chassis now.

With the suspension in place I was able to take some very accurate measurements, I then, using floor jacks and stands, set the car to what will be it's new ride height. I designed a lot of adjustments into this chassis so from here it can go up but where as I'm street driving the car it will sit as in the photo.

Making great progress on the Buick. Got the front wheels and tires in, Torque Thrust 15x5's with 155/90/15 tires. Decided it was time to fit the body so I stripped it down, today I had a few friends over and we took the body off and put it on the new chassis. Now I can make sure the front body parts will clear the suspension then I will make up the motor and transmission mounts. Here's a few pictures of the progress.

Thanks, I'll be happy to.

Moving this thing around the shop I can tell it is going to be a featherweight. With the motor from the Camaro in it and road ready I think it will weigh 2600-2800 pounds. It's going to be a handful of fun.

Probably too early for this, but what are your plans for the interior, if any? Also, what transmission are you going with?

Toying with a few ideas. No interior, aluminum panels or the simplest possible panels. Right now it's mated to a 4l80E case for fitment but where this won't be a highway car I'm leaning towards a T400

Got the front end mocked up just to make sure all the suspension parts clear. Everything is good so I'll be moving on to motor/trans mounts. Here's a few shots with the front end

Been moving along with the Buick. Made a few small changes to the chassis. Set the motor back 3 inches for better weight transfer as well as picking up a couple of inches in width to accommodate a little larger radiator than what was in it. The real motor out of the Camaro is in place so the pictures are with the car at actual ride height. Also moved the body back 1 inch to get the wheel positioned right in the fender wells. Working on the steering box now then I'll most likely put the front end back on and start in on the headers. Here's a few more quick pictures.
