Someone mentioned here several months ago, that it doesn't matter where you put the setting on the knob, the car automatically cycles the blend doors open and close when you power up the car which is the main wear and tear on them. I have no idea how accurate that is, but just thought I would throw that out there.

Yeah you can hear something moving around when you turn on the key so unplugging it is the only solution I can come up with. You could plug it back in seasonally I suppose but I'm lazy and on the cold days it won't get driven anyhow.

Same here. One click above the blue cold dot and never touch it. That's
easy here in South West Florida. 14 years and 72,000 miles and hoping
for the best.

Yep. I used to hear mine cycle all the time when I shut her down, but for the longest time now I haven't heard it anymore. Mine has always been set on the max setting and I never move it.

Yep. And I'm not gonna mess with mine because it blows out cold air when I use the AC. I never move it to use the heater. Don't really need it here in Florida in the winter. Just wear a jacket in the car. lol.

A few days ago, I started noticing that the air blowing from the AC was not cold enough.
Today, I told that there’s a leakage in the evaporator and that it needs to be replaced, which seems to be a common issue with these cars.
I got scared after watching some videos on YouTube showing how the car looks like after removing all the parts to reach the evaporator.
According to this thread, it doesn't seems that common.
My car is from 2013 but it just crossed 92K kms recently.

Just fell onto this thread although i have no issue at this point. '15 w/ approx 37,000 miles, I'm the second owner it was previously a Cali car
so i'm guessing the heater was seldom used if that makes a difference IDK, but here's to hoping .

I read all the horror stories about the blend door before I bought mine, first thing I checked beforehand. Since then I refuse to turn mine to max cool or heat, saw that somewhere as a preventive measure and thought I'd err on the side of caution. Fingers crossed that I don't have to, but in the event I do I would definitely do the hack replacement instead of paying for my car to be destroyed and reassembled.

With the cars that have higher miles it's a 100% guarantee.
I have 293,000 on mine and have had no problem with it. I never set it fully either way.

You are right about that on the stupid key fob recall. I wouldn't let them touch mine.
