We are liking the way it's performing so far... May not be too long before we build it out of billet material....

What kind of pressure have you run so far? Or is that proprietary info. I bet that little connector hose blows up like a balloon at speed

I am in a holding pattern waiting for the triple RPS to come back with them. I called to ask a question and Rob realized I had the older center part. He said if I wasn't in a hurry and sent it in, he would upgrade it to the new version and I would only have to pay shipping. I couldn't pass a deal like that up. Have an engine, no clutch... I'm happy to hear things are going well for you with both the car and work. |

I love the cheap gas but I do feel for you guys. There are gun related sites I'm on it and many oil industry workers are lamenting the down turn. I don't mind paying more to keep Americans in work. |

Not to get political, but that proposed 10% barrel tax isn't going to help things at all...
I can't wait for the end of March! Already got my hotel room booked and scheduled the time off.

Here's a big part of the deal... At some point OPEC will turn the taps off. They can't sustain this level of loss for very long. Saudi Arabia may be able to for a while longer but the rest of the Oil States are hurting badly... So, when they as a group make the decision to turn the taps off, the price will skyrocket and we will be dependent on middle east oil simple because we will be way behind in drilling. The Oil States will quickly recoup their monies and we will be paying a fortune at the pump. I'm not getting into the political reasons but there are a few and the bock stops primarily in one office. Quote:
Nothing like kicking a major industry while it's down. "Big Oil" is the "bad guy" but seriously take a look at other industries and see if it's as bad as is perceived. Simple things like bottled water... Spend a couple million on a building, a filtration system, buy a few trucks and make or buy some plastic bottles, send occasional samples in for testing and you are in business... I know thats over simplified but it's the point... Drilling a well, involves millions invested in just determining a location to drill, then millions more for the licensing and authorization to drill. Now it gets expensive... A rig capable of drilling in 6,000 plus feet of water will run on average 500,000 dollars a day... JUST for the rig and the drilling contractor personnel. The oil companies also pay for the fuel for the rig. Then there are all of the service contractors who specialize in various capacities.. and the equipment rentals. The ROV, (remote operated vehicle) and the crews that service and operate it... Three personnel minimum, seven during peak 24 hour operations. Cement unit and the operators for this... Usually one often times two personnel. Mud dryers, numerous personnel. Directional drillers, surveyors, mud engineers, MWD and LWD personnel, Logistics, Catering personnel etc, etc... It goes on and on... Trucks, Helicopters and boats... (trains planes and automobiles doesn't work) Trucks running equipment up and down the highways day and night, hot shot runs of stuff here and there... 250 plus foot work boats transiting equipment back and forth to the doc since rigs have a max variable tonnage deck load.. Helicopters flying to the rig six or seven days a week... Between shore support and rig borne personnel, the shut down of one rig can affect a thousand people... A typical ultra deep water well can cost the oil company upwards of two million dollars a day... A successful well is often 1 in 10 wells drilled. Yes this is minimized in known fields but drilling in new areas without prior formation data can be a blind guess at best... In a perfect scenario a well can be spudded, (started) and brought to completion and online in a year or so... Drill the well, perform preliminary testing to see if it's viable, then complete it, test it to determine true viability...then set a tree, pipe it to a production platform if one is available, or bring in a new production platform...then a pipe line to shore based facilities etc etc... Its incredibly involved and a long process... Think of doing all this pipeline and drilling work in incredibly harsh conditions... Have a dentist stand in the next building... and drill a tooth in your mouth...and have where he is drilling monitored by a radioactive source being monitored from two miles away, and phone calls telling the dentist where to go next with the drill bit... Have a welder stand 200 feet from where they are striking an arc... Have the mechanic modifying your car do it with robotics via a television monitor from across town.... The typical video depicting rig hands shows a very limited side of the work that takes place... There are many many highly educated and intelligent personnel working on a rig... doing myriad jobs... Many of them will leave due to are stability on the beach for less money and the offer of being home every night... Its going to be bad when it rebounds... and worse if WWIII starts over this mess occurring globally right now... Now, we have thousands of rigs shut down across the land and seas that just over a year ago were working... So, OPEC turns the spigot off.... Figure out how long it will be until we are back to the level of production we were at just over a year ago... We will not have the reserves needed to counter high prices set by OPEC. We will be the victims of their price gouging and there will be nothing we can do about it... It will create economic turmoil in every area of the economy, and guess who will get blamed... Sorry for the rant...

So for the first time in a while Brandi got to take in some sun today. We swapped my ProEFI box out with Corey's dealer box which allows for real time live tuning on the fly. After putting five gallons of C-16 fuel in the tank, we started her up and made some adjustments.
We were interrupted for a while but got back to it. With Corey sitting on the fire bottle in the passenger side, I pulled out and we drove about five miles at speeds up to 40 mph and got all the way into 4th gear. She ran just fine at slow speeds and Corey saved the final file. I swapped my ProEFI 128 box back into the car and Corey flashed the tune into it. We test ran the car for a few minutes and we are happy with the results to this point of swapping to the mechanical throttle body. Tomorrow Jeff will be swapping my windshield out for a new one. There are two old repaired rock chips in it, and two new ones of which one shows signs of the glass delaminating.. I don't want to risk the windshield collapsing in on me at speed and it would suck to not get through tech due to rock chips. Safety first... Either Friday or Monday we will pull the trans and package the clutch up to send it in for inspection and a modification. We'll overnight the clutch and we were told a couple days there at RPS and then shopping it back... We should have a decent time margins in there...

I'd love to see vid of a traffic stop and Corey sitting on extinguisher.
But I'm easily entertained like that. Make it happen. Ok?
