Would you change if you had the chance? Autos and Manuals

There is no arguing that Automatics are more efficient at shifting than a human, One of the reason all the high end dragcars are autos, and there is no denying that rowing through gears on a manual gives you a great feeling of being apart of the machine.

If you could do it over again would you change over to the other side when getting your vehicle?

And just on the side I put up a poll. Im curious to see how many manuals and autos camaros are on here on the boards!

If I did a lot of city driving and lots of stopngo I think an automatic would be tolerable but I do mostly highway and rural driving so it's manual for me, as long as my knees keep working!

No I wouldn't change. Your statement needs to be modified slightly. In the case of the ZL1, the automatic is more efficient at shifting which is good on a drag strip, up to a certain horsepower point. Hennessey doesn't offer their biggest packages on an auto. Now if you upgrade the auto trans then I guess you can do what you want.

But these autos aren't what you want on a road course compared to these manuals. I say these, yes Ferrari's flappy panel gear box shifts faster and better than any manual can. But its not an auto, and I guess for somewhere less than the $140,000 price difference I could get one of those, but whatever.

Happy with manual on a Camaro.

manual isnt an option for me. I can drive standard (learned how to drive on a three on the tree pickup) but I physically can not anymore.

Another big factor, is a lot of people didnt like paying the extra $$$ for the auto.

I have an auto but have great regrets for not getting a manual!!! In fact I'd be willing to buy or trade into a manual. The only thing is it would have to be a 2011 synergy green 1SS or 2SS in similar (mint condition, low miles and one owner) condition as mine.

Anybody?????......

I drive a manual and there's definitely many days that I wish it was an automatic. The manual is no doubt fun, but when I'm stuck in bumper to bumper traffic I wish it was an automatic. My wife also doesn't know how to drive a stick. It's a pain that more people don't know how to drive a stick.
