maggie problem. take a listen.

in the past i have noticed a light film of oil under the rear cog drive. i have even seen some small puddles on the intake. today was letting the car run to just check to make sure if everything is ok. i heard this knock sound and it sounds like its coming from the back of the blower. it almost sounds like a bearing going bad to me. when i installed the cog drive last week it didnt make this noise. a week later and now i have this noise. this is a 1:1 cog so its not hitting anything i can see. just want to make sure its not a valve train noise. it doesnt have a pattern to the noise so thats why i think its a bearing.

PM Jamie Mac... I think he had this issue. He had to send his back and have it rebuilt or something.

Second, do you have an L99 or LS3? Could be the faulty lifters if its an L99.

Third, who did the install? Perhaps take it back, unless you did it.

Well thats a plus! scratch that idea then. Jamie may be able to help you... I can't recall his exact issue but I know he had to return his for something. They fixed it free of charge.

He did his own install, both times so he may be able to help you out.

Sounds like the bolts are lose on the pulleys.

Ted.

The sound I had was a knocking sound. More of a thunk. I traced it with the old rubber hose in the ear to the rear of the housing. Mine was a bad bearing and the impellers were no longer running true. Magna charger replaced the bearing, impellers and oil free of charge but I had to pay shipping.

I'm tending to agree with Ted on this. Yours sounds like a metal on metal click. Reminds me of those swinging ball bearing things people put on their desk. Sounds like you have the cog drive and I know what a bitch that is trying to get them torqued while the Maggie is installed. Check those and if it's still there then use the hose in the ear trick to verify just where the click is coming from. Best of luck to you

Sorry late night, just re read your post. Oil seapage doesn't sound good at all. If the sound is coming from the housing itself, definitely call Magnacharger. Tell them what you have. They took a listen to mine over the phone and said to send it back. Jamie

Awesome, glad you found it. I was about to ask you how tight the belt was because before my whipple I had a maggie and I also put the cog drive on and getting the right tension means alot.
