Does Chevy ever have software updates for Mylink? I was in my Dads Ram today and his UConnect was updated and it blows away the Mylink. It has full graphics for the Sirius XM. It shows album art for every song they play. It also has a favorites feature and alerts you if your favorite artist or song is playing on any station. Also his system reads and displays texts messages through bluetooth. Chevy needs to catch up!

My 2SS does all this, except the album art. It will notify my of songs on any SAT station (See page 26 in the below manual) and reads and displays my my text messages over Bluetooth (See Text Messaging page 96). It will read the text message while driving and display or read when you are stopped.

UConnect will not display album art off an iPhone or USB...which just about every car with a decent display will do today including MyLink. Like others have said, you can read and send txt replys in MyLink just fine.

GM just announced that they are doing OTA updates for My Link soon...don't know if it will backwards compatible for current My Link and CUE systems, doubt it, but it is coming. Would rather be able to a USB update myself, don't trust OTA updates, too much risk for failure.

I highly doubt they will make the update backwards compatible since they need reasons for people to upgrade year models of their vehicles lol. 2015-2016 c7s got faster processor and better software for the ARM + Mylink + a8 and if you had a 2014, you didn't get jack. Only thing they will really only let you retrofit stuff are the Navi Map updates (2017 or 2018 ones are out now, 135 bucks). Which is sad but business :/

Thanks guys. I guess it pays to read directions. I am still having trouble with the album art on the usb and bluetooth. . It seems random what works and what doesn't. The UConnect shows the art on the stations and each song played on Sirius. I know its not a big deal, but I like graphics.

I mostly use Apple CarPlay in my Camaro, shows the Album art. BUT, if you connect your smartphone via USB and use the MyLink (Not Projection) to play your music, it comes up with the Album art on the MyLink display and the instrument cluster as well, but the phone has to be connected via USB cable for the Album art to appear.

Also, if you use the XM Sat radio, you can add your fav artists/songs so every time they come on you will get an alert with a choice to tune to that station.

where was this? just curious on if there are any new cool new features. OTA doesn't have to be risky. Hopefully it downloads the full install before it starts the update.

The uconnect is also updateable via USB. You can download updates right from dodge.

That said. There's definitely some incredibly annoying quirks about uconnect as well.

Biggest for me being that phones on Bluetooth won't play navigation sounds (google maps, Apple maps) without music playing in the background. It's incredibly annoying. Mylink handles this just fine.

Chrysler has this feature and beats Mylinks version hands down. My wife has a grand cherokee and it hold at least 10 times the number of favorite sat songs as mylink (and it saves them by driver key fob). It also recognizes specific songs. For example, my daughter loves 'Human' by katy perry so its saved in my favorites. Anytime ANY SONG with the name 'human' comes on, it tells me its playing. Any song I have saved that has a 'kids bop' version on 77 also notifies me the kids bop version is playing. Uconnect is smart enough to know the specific song - not sure if it does it by artist or by song code - but it is much better than mylink.

Mylink is also bad about notifying you 30-45 seconds into the song, Uconnect will notify you as soon as the song comes on.

The 2018 camaro does OTA updates.

It is in settings -> software -> system update. You have to have the car connected to your 4G hotspot or another wifi hotspot to get them though. I haven't tried it on my 2017 2SS but I did see the menu option when the dealer was going through mylink at delivery. It is discussed on page 102 of the mylink guide posted above in this thread.
