The Z28 has a manual slider. I image V6s do as well.

Yes, the no option Camaros came with manual sliders and that is what I got from the junk yard for this installation. I believe over the years there may have been slight variations on the sliders so I would suggest you get the same as your production year. I know 2014 and 2015 sliders are the same as I put 2014 sliders in my 2015 Z/28.

Do the factory manual seat sliders detach easily from the factory seat, or do they need to be cut off from the base of the seat or modified in anyway? I have a Cobra Sebring I need to install in my 13 1LE and have been trying to figure out a way to use a slider and not have my head going through the roof.

The Recaro seats unbolt and unscrew from the factory sliders. Your seats should have the same attachment points. This is the easy part.

To install a race seat onto a factory slider the factory sliders do have to undergo some cutting to remove excess metal tabs that turn up towards the factory seat as part of the attachment point. This cutting and removal of material simply provides more new surface area to weld to when attaching the new seat brackets. You may also find the metal tabs extend up to high and interfere with the new race seat depending on the angle of incline of the seat in its final mounted position or how close you are trying to get the race seat to the floor pan to increase head clearance. Some of the metal tab has to be retained as it also connects to the seat leaver that operates the slider mechanism. Here are some photos of the factory sliders still mounted to the Recaro seats.

HUGE shout out to AustexSS on this approach. I have gained a considerable amount of head room, now sit properly in the car, and have slider that functions as stock. I do not do my own fab work and the total labor was just about $400. I dropped off the Gen5 slider/mount, new seat and it's brackets and picked up a race seat that takes 30 minutes (if that) to swap out with complete function and is as sturdy a mount as the factory OEM seat.

Sorry I have no photos, but really... it's just another mounted race seat. I choose the new 2020 Sparco EVO XL which is the largest seat Sparco makes and it fits with room to spare.

For anyone who needs headroom and a seat for the track -- this thread has all that you need.

Surprised you can't find any at local salvage yards... I made one call and my local yard sourced me Gen5 sliders in a day.
