V6 Guys Only
87 octane vs 93 octane
Anyone here see a difference? I have been running 87 octane since we bought the car. I have a diagnostic tool i have been running on the car to see what parameters I have. I put 93 octane fuel in the car over the weekend. The 87 octane has a 10% mix of Ethanol and I get it from Enmark. Like I had said I put 93 in it over the weekend, and though I have not seen and increase in gas mileage, I have noticed (after about half tank) a better take off and maybe more power on the hwy for passing. Now i know my IAT, and degrees adv has something to do with this so. IAT was 76degrees ambient temp 88 and it has been raining degrees adv was 8

To really see a difference in the fuel economy you will need to run it for ~1000 miles or so to allow the ecu to recalibrate to it a bit, you will notice more responsiveness right away though. I went from 87 to 91 and wont go back. It seems to be a little more responsive, I dont hear the rasp as much on the exhaust, and it will help with less knock. I have also seen a 2 mpg jump in economy even when driving it harder, Ive been running it for a little while now. My only concern though is that I seem to be running a bit rich and burning off some extra fuel. I wish GM would offer a new tune for the v6s that want to run premium because tuning it to the higher grade fuel would help quite a bit, but doing it on our own voids warranty
Btw I prefer to run no ethanol, give this site a look, I have two gas stations in my area that run no ethanol...I dont always do it, but I prefer to when I can http://pure-gas.org |

Ok it would cost me to much to just go buy gas that has no ethanol. There no stations listed for albany ga. We do have a SHELL but most everyone around mixes their fuels with ethanol

I just filled up with 93 last week. I havent run it a lot since then, but I dont feel any difference in the car. Sure Scrming has shown us there are benefits, but I dont feel them while driving the car. So far i havent seen any benefit in gas mileage either. I was doing about 17.5mpg on 87, i'm at about 16.9 or so on 93 (over about 100 miles driving).

If yours is a manual, I was able to get 25mpg city with premium, and I tried it for 3 days. First off I didn't run the AC. Next, I never let the RPMs get above 2000. I tried to get the car to 4th gear even at 25mph as that is the speed limit around here. (Big 10 university and 45,000 students) Once I did that I noticed I could get some real good city gas mileage. It is also kind of fun to merely press in on the clutch and coast down hills. |

I really did not see any difference in pep right away either. It was not untill about a half a tank that pep started. so give it some time to relearn. my gas mileage did not go up either, but i'm getting (per trip comp) about 23 - 24 miles to the gallon, or about 400 plus mile to a tank.

Well, if it is available, I'd be willing to try it out. I kind of like the way the OEM airbox looks, and the pictures of the new one look good as well.

I don't know if it is out yet. The last word that I had was over 4 months ago, and that was they still hadn't released it yet for who knows why. I wouldn't buy it though. I'm beta testing the Airaid V2 so there are others out there that will probably be much better to buy then the GMPP one.
