Dupont Paint Protection package
Has anyone used the dupont paint protection package ($399) ? The dealer was raving about it and wanted me to take it for the 2SS that I've ordered. Is it really worth it?

I used to apply these packages (along with the rustproof/undercoat, and interior packages) The dealer paint protections are nothing but a wax job, sometimes with a wax with some UV protection in it. But, they aren't nearly as good as some of the products on the market that you can get and do yourself for much less money.
Don't buy the paint packages. I wouldn't buy the interior packages either...same thing, you can get equal or better products on your own. The rustproof/undercoating packages.....I can go either way on them......both have pros and cons. |

I agree with all these replies.
Plus what I have seen. Your putting your car in the hands of a young person who has been told but really doesn't get the concept of swirl marks as to what causes them and why they are such a big deal. |

Waste of Dollars... Plus I would wait about 30 days before I would put any thing on the paint. Then Claybar and good coat of NXT or Mothers and you will be good to go for a lot less.

Tell the dealer you take the car if he tosses the protection package into the buyers contract for free or your moving on elsewhere.

My car (black) already had this protectant on it as I bought it off the lot so there wasn't much I could do about it. They washed the car while I was doing paperwork and when I cam out I was horrified, swirls, smears, windows inside and out were still wet and streaky. First thing I did was Dawn soap wash, hand polish and wax. After a few weeks the swirls were gone. They really need to either train the morons who wash these cars better or hire competent employees... or better yet, don't wash it if your going to do a piss poor job!
sorry for my rant So short answer, don't let them TOUCH the car let alone apply this protectant

That's exactly what happened to me when I bought my wife's car (not a Camaro). It was the finance person that try's to throw this crap on the deal at the end when you're just about to sign. I guess that way they figure you won't try to re-negotiate the deal. Of course I didn't do it.
