Lightning Lap 2016 http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/...un-2-47-s.html "Man you look the list of cars that the GS has beat and is pretty incredible. Better times than the Audi R8, Nissan GTR, 911 Turbo, BMW M4 GTS, Mercedes Benz AMG GT, Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, Mclaren 570S and it also beat the New Acura NSX easily by 3 seconds. I am pretty sure that even the new MB AMG GT-R is going to have a hard time going below 2:47" |

I considered the Grand Sport... but a $40,000 Canadian difference from the SS 1LE... I never really considered the base Corvette...

That black rose tintcoat is a wicked cool color! Very unique.
When I started looking for a new occasional use fun car I figured I would end up with a Grand Sport convertible. Drove both, really enjoyed both, would have been happy to own either one. In the end the quantum leap forward that I feel GM made with the Gen 6 Camaro just spoke to me in more ways. The C7 is amazing. In 2014 it probably would have ended up as my choice. I wanted to own the Gen 6 Camaro for reasons in addition to it also be a very fun, very capable car. If either one of these cars can't put a smile on your face when you drop the hammer, start life support immediately. |

But on Laguna Seca, MT driver Randy Pobst Stingray posted a 1.38.28 VS 1LE SS 1.37.77, the Camaro was faster. Then results would depend very much on the track and the driver. I'm surprised. No doubt the Grand Sport is faster, but now we have the new ZL1 and afterwards the Z28 would show up. Nice showcase GM

This is my order of preference:
1. C7 Z06 2. Corvette Grand Sport 3. Corvette Stingray Z51 2LT 4. Camaro ZL1 6th. Gen 5. Camaro SS 1LE 6. My Camaro SS 6th. Gen The Stingray Z51 and the ZL1 is pretty much interchangeable but if I had to choose, I would choose the Z51. Reason being, I'm going to be 40 in a f ew years (I don't want to be that guy that finally owns a Vette in my 50's lol)and after having the SS for 9 months, the Vette is the next step up. Sure the ZL1 has more power but it's about the overall package. The looks of the C7, I admired it from day 1. Just didn't want to pay 60k+ for it. The 6th Gen SS is awesome car, torque everywhere, handles great and reeks American Muscle! The only thing the Camaro got on the Vette is the whole infotainment system. |

Don't know about Z06 but I prefer 1LE to Grand Sport unless it's a 4th car. They need to make a fixed roof C7.

^^Ok I'm just kidding I wish!^^ My buddy got deployed and left me his new Z06 to play around with AND mod (yes he left his amex and a budget) and told me to make it fast for under that amount. Needless to say I've been flogging it while mine is getting built then will drop his off for round one of mods. I will say though it slaps the 6g's silly and I'm jelly
