Is your sct and livelink completely updated?
Updated helped my itsx. I've actually had old luck with their tech line. My biggest complaint about sct, is their instructions are HORRIBLE!! Worthless actually. But the guys answering the phone were super cool, and helpful. Going for my first datalog tomorrow. So my opinion may completely change. Lol

Get everything updated and give Ted a call. I am seriously impressed with my tune. Yeah, the bullshit issues with sct/itsx were annoying, but we did manage work them all out.
My first itsx turned out to be a brick. They are working directly with Ted to issue the return and refund. The new one arrived, I updated it and its worked just fine. Hope the livelink will work fine also. They've updated nearly everything in the last month or so.

Seriously, do it! Ted will work tirelessly to help you get the SCT and datalogging working and perfect the tune! He is one of the best at helping you to troubleshoot a problem remotely! I highly recommend him from personal experience! We went back and forth on trying to tweak a tune that was showing a lot of KR. After a while he suggested it may be false knock from an outside source like loose exhaust or something loose on the engine. Sure enough I found that the starter was loose, f'ing dealership, and after tightening it all was well. Give him a try!

PQ,
Just wanted to let you know that the itsx and new livelink/whatever sct software worked perfectly. Sent off datalog to Ted, immediately replied, "you've got a Vacuum leak." Narrowed down the leak to 2 possibilities, just running tests to confirm. (Air bypass actuator or the evap purge line) FYI

The EVAP line had a kink at one point and I thought for sure it was causing a problem. But no dice. I sprayed propane and starter fluid all around my actuator. I suppose it could still be but I don't have access to a smoke machine. And I am kinda done with shops. Nobody really cares unless you are standing over them. And time is money to them. Which is fine but when there is a problem like I have (and you too obviously) then we are just screwed unless we can find it ourselves. I've logged mine and had a few guys look at it but only so much they can see from a log. Let me know what you discover. Yesterday my cat died and would not start for a few cycles. Service Stabilitrac light came on then went off. |

I'm 90% sure it's the bypass and here is why:
I was pulling it off 2 nights ago to test the diaphragm for a leak, following whipple's tech advise. Got interrupted and just bolted it back on without adjusting it. Next day drive to work, and home, no check engine light, boost was proper @ 8.5-9, instead of 10.5, boost gauge was showing full spectrum of boost, not "bam, 5lbs an rising", car had much more power. Stopped las night at my shop to adjust it the actuator according to the directions, went for a rainy drive, check engine light "lean bank 1 and 2", same as always. Drove to work this am, no rain. Boost is not coming on smoothly, it's hittin hard, all at once. (Door slamming shut) If that bypass is not opening/closing properly, it will bleed off boost (vacuum also), and will cause havoc with the fuel trim. I am going to call whipple again to see about adjusting it again, or just put I back where I left it yesterday. Best it had ever run.

I did notice a few times my actuator will stick open. But I don't see how that would be causing it to die when it's supposed to be full open at idle and low speeds. No boost being produced. Mine produces boost at a decent enough hit. I wish I had a smoke machine to use. |

I wonder if you can rent one from an auto parts store.

I tried everything. Every rental place doesn't have one.
Auto parts stores, at least down here, don't have them for rent. The only time I had one on the car was when I went to Firestone. And I had to show them how to use it. NOBODY there knew how. Funny part was when they came in the lobby and told me they found the leak and it was a huge leak..................... wait for it............ wait for it........... no shit... The smoke was coming out the air filter in the end of my fastlane intake. I had to show them how to block off the throttle body to hold air in. |
