Unknown button next to hood release.
Morning all,
I've looked through the manual. I have a gen5 camaro with a small button located to the left of my hood release. What's it for? How is it used? Pic is attached |

looks like a security device. Seeing you are in CA Id imagine you either bought it used and it was added by previous owner or the dealer added it to the car as it seems most the stolen cars you see on this forum are in CA (mostly in Bay area though)
I had something similar on a used truck I bought and it came unplugged and I couldn't get the truck to start. I thought we were stranded when it happened until I luckily noticed it wasn't fully connected. I had no idea what it was until that happened and i looked it up. |

Uhhg. Its hurts to see that just screwed crooked right into the plastic like that.
Whoever did it didn't put much thought into wire routing. You could always get under the dash and follow the wires.

Thanks all, looks like I'll be tracing wires soon to solve the mystery. I pushed the button several times today: parked, started, driving, it seems to do nothing.
I'll take your advice and take that Arizona ride, soon as time permits. Thanks. |

That is a KARR Alarm system. I purchased my car used and noticed the same thing under the dash. I had to research it and finally found out what it was.
