On my car removing the front sway was only good for some shitty highway driving!! It was cutting mid 1.4's before we took it out and it has never improved. I'm actually thinking about putting one back in since I plan to use the car on the street more this year.

Yeah looking for some cheap help with weight transfer. With the 4l80 & 305/45/18" DR M/T i still have a lot of wheel spin. It's not a DD car but how shitty is highway driving?

Most of the top cars on the fast list don't have a front sway bar.

Would swapping to a smaller fe2 front sway bar help with on road driving but also allow for more weight transfer?

Just freeing up the bar in its bushings might be worth almost as much as removing the bar entirely. The bar will rotate inside them with less friction/stiction and let the nose rise just a little more freely.

Don't expect to get anywhere near the same amount of help in an IRS car that is possible in a stick axle car no matter what you do to the front bar, or from playing around with roll stiffness distribution.

The question here is did they do it because they always used to or was it the result of actual beck-to-back-to back testing?

At the pointy end of competition it makes more sense to chase even the tiny potential performance improvements. Back where the majority of us are, driver consistency is typically not good enough for the really little tweaks to matter, even though it may look good or feel good to do them.

I think its a waste with a lot of other areas to address first.

But if you really want to then just disconnect one end link bolt and zip tie it somewhere safe that won't cause interference. When you're done with the track take the one wheel off and bolt it back up. I would never drive around on the street without it.

Well am serous about my time's. Spent a lot of money on tire's & rim's on back. I would say it paid off went from 11.17 to 10.87 but the 60' was a 1.67. Still have wheel spin and that with the high 1st gear in the 4l80? Any help in the 60' should lower the top end.

Guessing few thousandths in the 60 and 0.010 or so ET based on losing the weight of the bar up front. Don't know what letting the nose rise quicker might be worth, never tried to figure it out.

I am interested in this topic also.... some of the guys says there is a bunch of stuff to do first but I am not sure what those things are and... i think i have done all of them. Seems disconnecting would make sense to at least try...

you could also pull timing under a "xXXx" rpm?... so you will grip and then take off... could play with that to get the traction you need... obviously if you dont need to pull timing would be better but i think not loosing it is also important.... next time out i will be disconnecting the fronts and also pulling a tad of timing under 3800rpm... hopefully will hit 9's with this setup....

good luck to you and let us know what you decide to do....
