Keep in mind the "possible" starting price point for the "base" GT350. With an AFM-less LT1 (LT2?), and a potential starting price of, oh hell let's just say, $49,995, the sales charts would get "very interesting"! We'll know the TRUE price of the 350 before we see, and "rationalize", a base Z/28 package and number.
That's basically what I'm saying. Take the Z/28 and swap some of the exotic components, a different engine, call it the 1LE and price it accordingly.

It could still be called a Z28 then, no red Z or /. Keeps from having to ad the R to Z/28, just add the exotic components and the Z/ for the track focused version.

I'm not sure where I saw it, but there was a list of engines that were going to be used for GM for future gens and there was mention of an NA engine to replace the LS7, does anyone have knowledge of this?

If I may....My $.02....A couple of things...

If the new SS is already being compared to the current ZL1, I think that's the end of the 1LE....

...I believe the most popular selling Camaros are fully loaded V-6s...

This leads me to believe that the V-8 lines will be "consolidated" into more of a performance oriented, less luxurious line-up....

The SS will be the start and absorb the 1LE features...(after all the current 1LE is an SS first and foremost)....

The ZL1 should continue as a street-brawler type for the Hell-Cat/Mustang500 scene....

The Z/28 should be built in the same vein and mojo as the first Gen....Bare bones, track oriented...

My point is there's not really a need or demand for such a smorgasboard of V-8 cars, and it looks to me there's not that many powerplants to go around and have as many distinct v8 models as we have now...

The luxury street-ride buyers will gravitate to the V-6/I-4 lineup in greater numbers as they have with the Gen5...

Thanks for listening....Probably a clueless ramble on my part... won't be the first!...lol

With the Z06 likely replacing the Z06 and ZR1 trims for the C7, I don't see another C7 coming out. Unless GM develops a C7 Grand Sport, I doubt they will develop a new N/A LTx.

That's why 1LE any Z/28 should remain. Both names have strong brand image so it would be foolish not to use them. Z/28 is the "R". Elevate the 1LE to answer the GT350 and let the SS sweep up the GT PP

Just dreaming but... C7 L88 with enough torque to test the 8L90's 738 lb-ft rating

Yeah but that would mean forced induction, not N/A. If the ZR1 Zora actually made it to production as a mid engine supercar, they might fit turbos on it. They can't fit them in the C7 engin bay according to Tadge Juechter.

I see it differently, I think GM is setting the stage to revive the LT5 moniker and reunite it with ZR1.

LT2......LT5?????? You say toe may toe, I say tah mah toe.

I just hope they find a way to get a 500+ and by 500 plus I mean 510 or more NA V8. 50 hp bump over the LT1 at least.

This could be the Z/28 and Grand Sport engine.

LT1 and LT4 only just don't seem sufficient now.

I agree. I'm not sure how I feel about an expensive 1LE but your layout makes sense. Of course a $3500 1LE package on the SS could beat the GT350 like the fifth gen 1LE beat the Boss.

Baobabs, saw a car just like yours yesterday. Did a very slow roll driving around it. Very nice!

It had a 1LE badge on the hood cowl and a custom plate "ONE L E"
