I think that they would really be silly not to have a 2016 50yr anniversary Z/28...the ZL1 didn't come around till 1969 I believe. And if they do, please price the car to where a guy like me can afford it?!?!?!?! oh yeah, and since its all wishful thinking anyway, I'll have mine with a 302 engine lol

THIS

I think GM will drop the ZL1 name for now since Z28 is a more publicly known badge and the previous Z28 had some high profile publicity wins these last few years such Motor Trend 's best drivers car 2014 and beating the Nismo GTR around a track ( something the corvette Z07 couldn't do... Albeit on a different track)

I REALLY hope the 1LE is released as a 2017 model since it's already being tested on the Nurburgring and it would be a worthy competitor to regular Mustang 350

The Z/28 name badge will live on as the next gen track killer Camaro.

IMHO
Some questions come to mind then. What naturally aspirated power plant would be the choice for next Z28? I think price point is also an issue as the 5th gen Z28 was premium priced. The ZL1 may be a more logical price option for a high power option. That is if they feel high power is more of a draw than dedicated track model (I.e. Z28). Anyway, just some thoughts.

I think the 1LE name will get buried before ZL1 or Z28. They say the SS already out performs the last 1LE. I'm thinking the SS is pretty much equipped with everything they'd put in a 1LE already, so probably a ZL1 or Z28 will be all that comes out... at least for a while.

yeah, really no need for a 1LE, it wasn't a name anyway, just an option code. The Z/28 was overpriced on purposed as already discussed on the Camaro5 forum, they didn't want 50K Z/28's rolling around jacking up their CAFE numbers!!! TRUTH!!

The Z28 beat a Track Edition GTR, which is a GTR w/o back seats and with lighter wheels, not the Nismo. The Z07 did beat the Nismo when MT retested it @ Willow Springs (http://www.motortrend.com/news/2015-...-track-retest/). Whoever prepares the Z06s for testing is pretty bad at their job since the car wasn't properly aligned and then there was BDC this year too...

Aero, summer performance tires on a square set up, upgraded brakes, stiffer suspension, different gearing and PDR. There's plenty left on the table with the SS.

The fact that thew new SS outperforms the old 1LE is 100% completely irrelevant. Pretty sure the 5th gen SS outperformed the 4th gen 1LE. And I bet the same holds true for 4th gen SS vs 3rd gen 1LE too. If anything, it should be expected that the new SS outperforms the old 1LE -not a cause to say 'whelp, thats good enough!'

I also believe the reason for the aforementioned 6Gen SS outperforming the 5Gen 1LE was heavily due to the added power and lighter weight. The suspension set up as stated is superior in the 5Gen 1LE for tracking. IMO leaving room for the 1LE package. After all it's only an option on the SS. However this time the package should include a badge.

They'll have to change this sub forum to Z/28 when they do announce it.

My opinions are controversial enough. Why not add more fuel to the fire? Haha
