Some updated pics of the car. Decided to plastidip the wheels. So far so good. Still curious about durability... Besides that, the only things we have done are paint the rear bezels to match the paint and I put a vinyl overlay on the gold bowtie. The vinyl was a pretty close match to the car's color, so I just went with that. Only thing left on the exterior is tint and heritage grill. After that, we start buying the go fast parts...

Looking good! What's the plan for the go fast parts?

Thanks! Go fast parts will be the basics to start off with: CAI, full exhaust, tune. A cam will come into play later down the road, possibly as early as February 2014. Trying to keep it somewhat mild considering it is the wife's daily driver.

Is there a machine shop in wichita that anyone knows of that can do honing and decking? I'm trying to decide whether I should fly cut or get new pistons. No point in getting pistons if finding a local machine shop isn't gonna happen.

Hey Hemp...have you talked to Patterson's or Tracy's...I've got quite a few racing friends and contacts.

I haven't talked to anyone yet. Patterson's is exactly the type of place I'm looking for. I'll take a look at Tracy's when I get to work. Thanks James!

You're lucky, they did a horrible job on my car. I would have had them redo everything, except I was afraid of how it would turn out since they would have been doing it for free vs. when I paid the first time.

I had to replace the door, and they really messed it up. The paint looked marbleized because they put so many pressure creases in it, or did a horrible spray job with the paint. Numerous attempts at machine polishing could not fix it.

There were also spots in the quarter panel that were blurred from were it looked like they did a horrible blending job (i.e just stopped instead of clear coating the whole panel). Again, machine polishing could not get it out.

Overall, the painting they did had runs in corners, and numerous inclusions within the actual paint.

I took the car to a few body shops to get opinions, and the general consensus was it looked like they tried to drill the door, pop out the damage and bondo/ paint the door- rather than replacing it like I paid for. So, if they did replace the door, that shows how incompetent they were about it.

I also brought in ZL1 side rockers to be painted at the same time, and they painted the whole side rocker (against factory GM instructions), rendering them useless, and refused to replace them. The best I could get out of them was installing matte black vinyl over the areas that were supposed to remain granulized plastic.

Really incompetent body shop and slow service. 5/10 max.

I have a great relationship with them if you want me to make a call and have it addressed let me know.

Hey, thanks. I would really appreciate it but I've already gotten most everything fixed by another body shop except for the side rockers, because they would have to be replaced.

If you can get them to cough up a new set of ZL1 side rockers that would be magic.

Hey Kansas People, there is a group of us meeting up this Sunday in the Olathe/KC area. We are meeting at Oklahoma Joes off 119th and Strangline Rd. Its Just off I-35 and 119th St. we will meet there at 10 AM and hang out for a bit. The plane is to cruise over to Lawrence KS stopping off at Clinton Lake to take some pictures. We will probably find a place to do lunch in Lawrence. It would be great to see you all there.
