I might just have to get on the AutoTrain and come down to meet you and Matt@FSP in person one day.

It seems kind of tough to get ahold of Matt@FSP. Not to jack your thread, but I'm just hoping he sees this and shoots me a PM. Been trying to get ahold of him for a couple months now about tuning.

The really key to tuning is your use of a wideband.
If you don't use a wideband, your guesstimating. The MAF is used as an output frequency for fueling because its calculated in Hz not RPMs. If your not using a wideband connected to your computer scanner ( Not your dyno) you don't know where the tip in on Hz begins exactly on the MAF to adjust fueling and that can cause vehicles to go lean and detonate. Your AFR is a moving target throughout your RPM band and slightly different for each gear because of mass airflow at different speeds and air intake systems. I like my WOT on N/A cars to be in the mid 12's. That keeps motor rich and safe. The heavier the vehicle is (like a truck), I like it richer in the low 12s. Fuel also acts as a lubricate and a coolant inside the cylinder. You don't want to use fueling to drown knock retarding. What you want to do is get your fueling where you like it, then see how much main spark it will tolerate. Phil Owner of Tampa Tuning |

Very true Phil,
It can also be used a safety item if you keep it in view in case of a sudden fuel issue you can catch it quick and save an engine. I have seen all of the top remote tuners on here ask clients to make sure they have a good A/F meter installed. Look at the Cadillac Northstar if the engine gets hot it will kill certain firing cylinders and use the raw fuel to try and help cool the engine. Thanks for sharing some great insite of tuning. It's a lot more than just adding fuel and taking it away by injector timing. |

Weather looks good for Friday night T&T session so far no rain for some updated tuning runs. About an hour ago had a guy come into the shop today and call me a liar saying he heard I was running 12s with my car. I told him yes on nitrous. He called me out for a heads up run Friday night. He has a 2012 V6 Mustang and said he is only running 13.3s on spray, he is lighter, has headers, bla bla bla. Said NO WAY with my car heavier and no headers than his. Sooooooo I told him be at the the track. if my motor runs are good and A/F looks good we can do a heads up run even tho I'm not tuned for the spray right now. I can watch my A/F and keep from going lean by letting off the button. So we might have some more information than just motor tuning feedback soon.

I don't know about trans type. Hope he is good on the tree because I cut consistent .025 - .030 lights. Probably just one of those types that runs their mouth not their car. When I'm done smoking his car, I'll smack him with my AARP card and call him a young wipper snapper..
