Awesome 5.0 Mustang!!!!

Ok, maybe not that awesome. I noticed a 2012 5.0 Mustang on the local Ford dealership lot the other day (only the 2nd they ever had..it took them 6 months to sell the first one) and thought it might be nice to drive the Competition. One of the sales guys is in my SS class at church and he invited me down to drive it. So, I did....we put about 30 miles on it and I have to say I left fairly well impressed. It was a 6m and I knew Randy didn't mind me getting on it when as we got to a place to run it hard, he reached over and pressed the traction control button to off and said, "go ahead, burn a little rubber if you want". Even at that, it didn't burn a lot of rubber in first and I got chirps in second and then 3rd. $36K...no Brembos or gears, but leather, ambient lighting and the bigger wheels. Had it over red line a couple times and it pulls hard...not as hard as my modded Camaro, but I was impressed. Interior about on the par with my car but the dash is nice softer material than ours. Awesome, but not as awesome as my Camaro, SEMA's hottest car for the second year running!!!

It's nice to enjoy the competition sometimes, but even nicer to walk away happy with the car you own.

If you go 5.0, get the auto... Not as manly, but it beats the hell outta having your car down every other month to get a new trans...

Aren't they the same Tremec transmission as our cars?

My friend is a Ford new car saleman.

He's got some stories about the people that buy Mustangs. They come in looking for a big truck and he convinces them they need a V6 Mustang.

Seeing as how I owned one that failed, I do believe I would know better than you how bad they are or are not. Now I will say, it is an amazing gearing for the car and is perfect for that car. But it's a poorly built piece of shit, no matter how you look at it. Funny thing is, one car like mine will have a bad trans an the next one will be perfect hold 600 rwhp and make numerous passes at the track. The company that makes the trans (Getrag, a Chinese company that builds some fairly decent transmissions one example being the trans of the 93-98 Supra) just makes them extremely cheap and obviously lacks the required quality control needed to mass produce these transmissions.

Funny thing is, the gt500 has a 6060 in it lol

No. They have a Getrag tranny versus the T6060 that is in the Camaro and the GT500. Getrag has manufacturing plants all over the place, including China, but I'm pretty sure it is not a Chinese company.

The trans in the 5.0 is made in china. Nankang to be precise.

nice post. I recently drove a used 2011 shelby at my locale ford place. It was a very nice car and i really did like it. Ive always thought the shelby's looked good but it didn't feel like it hugged the road like my ss and i feels so much higher than my car. but it did pull hard with that 5.4 supercharged engine but in all honesty my cammed Ls3 is no push over either lol. All in all it was a nice car but they wanted more for the used shelby then my car with the mods lol. The salesman said so are u ready to switch from that average ss to this monster of a car and i laughed and said man i think ill stick with what i got!

It's nice to see every so often a fellow Camaro owner can appreciate and give props to another vehicle that is in it's right just as fantastic as a Camaro.
My friend has one and I also think it's awesome.
