Correct. The PCV recircs oil vapors into the intake stream but since there is no fuel to wash it (fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber, not the intake) the oil/debris builds up on the backside of the valves. It's a mess. There are shops that do walnut shell/ other media blasting to remove the deposits. There might be an aerosol or something you could use in the intake path to do the same.
