Just bought a 2012 SS that has a weird idle surge. Please help...

I just bought a 2012 SS with an L99 with only 19K miles on the odometer. Apparently the car was sitting for a long time. First thing I did was change the oil with some good ole Mobil 1. We also checked the rear diff fluid as well and it was pretty bad. So, we changed that fluid as well. However, the car seems to have a slight idle problem. It sometimes has a slight surging condition that goes up and down. It doesn't do it always, just sometimes. So I'm wondering what can or could I do or replace so the engine idles normally?

There are too many factors -- you'd really need to record your idle with HP Tuners (etc.) and post the log.
It could be anything related to fuel, air, spark, bad tune...

As for the diff fluid, even when it's fresh from GM, it stinks to high heaven. I doubt it needed to be changed, but it's better that you changed it just to be sure.

Is the car stock or modded? Usually when we get an erratic idle we usually look for air leaks. Check the intake and vacuum lines to make sure you don't have any open or loose connections.

The car is bone stock but it sat in storage for a long time. It's not an erratic idle more like a rise in rpm here and there but nothing too bad. I'm just use to smooth running engines. My 2010 SS idled really smooth.

Thanks I'll try that. What should I use to clean those two things? Would brake clean do the job w/o hurting anything?

They make an actual MAF cleaner. I don’t think brake clean is a good option. Could be wrong , hopefully someone with experience will chime in.

Autozone or NAPA sell throttle body cleaner and MAF cleaner.

My car sat for a while before I bought it. I wasnt sure what kind of gas was in it, so I ran a 3-4 of tank fuels of 93 octane with injector cleaner and seafoam in it, to clean out the fuel delivery system.

It could be some light misfires from the injector being a little clogged.

If you didnt say the car sat for a while, Id look for a dry rotted hose creating an air leak.

So you put the fuel injector cleaner in the tank?

Might be old gas.

Run it out with some sea foam, then change fuel filter and put fresh gas in.
