Paint Issues
I have a 1SS Hyper Blue Metallic. I have noticed that the bumper is a different color than the body! Anybody else have any trouble with this!?! It's very noticeable!! And bothers the hell out of me!!

Same with my 2010 cobalt ss. I noticed it a year after I bought it when I took a picture in the winter light. Now I can't un-see it ever, two different shades of silver. I think it's GM quality, we aren't buying a lexus here...

It looks a little different on mine too. Not enough to bother me though

Different materials, painted at different times...pretty common. Will usually be worse on lighter colors like white. My Mustang bothered me so much, I ended up having my bumpers repainted on my own dime for $800. Was so worth it though...
Remember, these cars aren't painted at high end shops that do $10,000 paint jobs... |

That would bother me as well. I would get them to repaint the bumpers or take the car back.

Yeah. I would have refused delivery -- that's just piss poor. Now I know why my dealer says 16's are backlogged due to QC issues (mine is going to take 8+ weeks).
*sigh*. This is why I have stayed away from American made cars for so long.... Good luck man -- it's on the dealer to fix that! |

So I had a few people at the dealer look at it and they all have different opinions as to why and what is(or isn't the problem) Some people at the dealer are trying to say that it is "normal" and it only appears like this at certain angles because of the metallic paint.. Others are saying that they see the difference but don't understand why, and others are just playing as if they don't see a thing. But next week they will take it to the body shop and see what the "professional opinion is" and if they say it shouldn't be like that they will redo my whole bumper, but if they say it should be like that.... then I guess I'm stuck with it??

I have noticed it slightly. I am familiar with this as the plastic bumper does tend to have a different color to the metal parts. They use different primers and sealers on plastic than metal. I have the same color and while it is not horrible. It is slightly noticeable on my car.
I am supposed to have my car polished and ceramic coated do you think this could affect if I try to do a correction on this? |
