What JL Audio speakers do you have?

I am looking to upgrade my BA system, I only bought JL subs in the past, never front and rear speakers. I currently have a 12W7 and want to stay with JL. Trying to decide what is best series choice front in rears. What series is best, and what size for the rears. I have seen guys do 6.5 in rear and 6x9, which is better why? I listen to Rap, R&B, Country, and occasionally Rock. I am not worried about cost as much as sound quality! Currently considering ZR 650CSi for front and C5 650x for the rear or the C5 570x in the rear if they will fit the sub thump mount. Thanks for the opinions, Im currently stationed in Italy and my car is in storage in the states so I don't have the luxury of going store to store to hear the difference, but looking to pile up a bunch of upgrades so when I return its me and the Camaro for a week in the garage.

The ZR 650 are JL's top of the line. How can you go wrong!!!

I personally would go for the 6.5 in stead of the 5x7s in the rear.

That's my personal choice. They spec out identically.

The 12W7 with your choices above will definitely rock out.

What amp?

I didn't think I needed the "latest and greatest".. The 2 years ago latest and greatest still sound darn good. The clarity is amazing.

I did the C2-650 JL component set in front and the JL C2-690 in the rear.

They're awesome!

Thanks guys for all the replays. Did you guys lose your back up sensors with the conversion?

Captain- Do you think there would be any quality lost by going with the ZR in the front and the C5 - 650's in the rear or should i stay with the C5's front and back? The sub I'm running the slash 1000/1, my speakers Im running the XD 400/4. I would assume that is enough to push the new speakers. Did you lose your back up sensor sounds. I plan to go with Ofer's Mylink conversion as well.

Someone else needs to chime in here. I don't have backup sensors in my car. It's an early 2010 2SS/RS.

I've never listened to the ZR so I can't really say. I went with the C3 6.5's on all 4 corners instead of the C5's. The C3's and C5's almost spec out the same. I;ve read reviews on both and most go with the C3's.

The 400/4 should be enough. That sub amp is killer.

I did not loose any of the chimes, beeps, etc..... All factory features are still there.

I considered getting the ZR's, but I just couldn't hear enough of a difference between the C5-650's and the ZR's, especially to justify them almost being twice the price. I could, however, hear a significant difference between the C5-650's and the lower models. So I went for the C5-650's and love them.

I actually didn't put any speakers into the rear. Honestly, especially with a coupe like ours, rear speakers don't really increase the listening experience at all. You probably won't even hear the rear speakers and having the sound behind you listening to music in a car doesn't really increase the listening experience like if you were watching a movie or playing a video game, in which you would want that "surround sound" effect. With music in a car, most people are trying to recreate a concert feel so they want all the sound to be close and around your front vision. So I'm using a 300/4v2 Jl slash amp to power just the C5's in the doors and a 500/1v2 Jl slash amp to power my 10w7 sub. Sounds incredible.

I know this is a old thread but I’m curious to what speakers people are using in their factory locations.

No JL in my ride, but I’m using 6.5’s in my doors and my wife’s doors. She has 1” tweets in the stock location (Focal). My mids and tweets are glassed into my a-pillars (Audiofrog).

I'm using Hertz 6.5 components all the way around with a 12in jl audio sub.
I couldn't be happier with the sound and volume. I started with the 6.5s up front but it really came alive when I added the 6.5 components in the rear.
