Gas mileage for a brand new SS

So I picked her up 3 days ago and after aboout 380kms (230miles) I've already ran through a whole tank!

So far I seem to be getting on average 12 mpg or roughly 20 ltr/km. Now I have accidentally had my foot to the floor more than a few times, but has your gas mileage gotten better as the car breaks in and you get more miles on it? Supposed to get somewhere around 19 city and 34 highway isnt it?

And driving like Miss Daisy aint gonna happen, too hard to restrain oneself with this car!

19 city and 34 highway? Nope, not your LS3... You're looking at around 24mpg tops on the highway I believe.

I get around 16mpg, but my pedal has been stuck to the floor a few times... I think Chevy outsourced the Camaro to Toyota

I have an A6 with almost 8000 miles. Getting between 17-18 in town and 23-25 on the Interstate.

My fuel mileage seemed to improve as the engine broke in.

After I broke my car in I drove it pretty hard, I am not talking about burning rubber, just using the power to get ahead of traffic. It seemed like I was stopping for gas constantly, so I checked my mileage the old fashion way. Fill the tank, drive until its down to about 1/4 tank, I went back to the exact pump to fill it, I did this twice and the results were almost identical. I was getting 6.4 miles per gallon. WOW my jaw dropped. I decided to drive it much easier without driving like Miss Daisy, I got 16.4 MPG. After 14,000 miles, I DON'T smoke the tires, but I do GET AHEAD of traffic and hit CRUISE CONTROL, I average 15.5 MPG in mostly city driving, which is really great IMO.

I had a 2007 Honda Civic Si for awhile which required very high RPM's to really enjoy the car. I almost always redlined it constantly (8,000 RPM's) and averaged 17 MPG in mostly city driving.

I just hit 500 miles yesterday, and in town I bounce around 17mpg, and my one tank on the highway got me 24mpg. This is way better than my 2500 Hemi, so I consider it a win for me.

The official from GM is 16 and 24 but edmunds has as low as 8.75 . It's a muscle car so your mpg will vary depending on how you drive it. Nice and easy will get you much better gas mileage than when you stomp on her .

HP takes fuel. A few years back, f-bodies and Vettes you could easily get very high 20s maybe even 30 on the highway. When they cranked the HP up, the mpgs went in the toilet.

I had an 01 Camaro SS that I remember several highway trips getting 30 mpgs. Same thing with an 04 Z06 with an LS6. That car could easily cruise in 6th gear at 30 mpgs all day long.

Then I got an LS3 Corvette. Low 20's maybe 24/25ish mpgs if lucky on the highway. My Camaro, I haven't seen 20 yet.

Same thing has happened over the years with the V-6's. I've had tons of cars over the years with 3800 V-6's. Those cars easily got 30 mpgs on highway cruises. Today's V-6's because they've cranked the hp up so much, don't get nearly as good mileage.

It's a math thing. It takes x amount of fuel to make x amount of hp.

I get around 15.5 if romping around and driving in traffic. No romping and just drive like a normal person 17.8 to 19.

More fun getting 0-to speed limit as fast as I can.

I just got back from a trip up state and was VERY satisfied with what I got on the interstate. 27mpg going about 80mph the whole time I was on the road (about 800 miles). Seeing as I've driven jacked up jeep wranglers all my life and could barely even get up to 80mph, let alone get 27mpg doing it, I'm pretty happy.

my first 1500 miles, my avg is under 15. But since 1500 miles - 2000 miles, my avg has gone over 15. Mostly city driving.

I don't have an SS, but I've read that it can do 65MPH at around 1500rpms. If you drive like that(Cruise Control) you will see go considerable higher. Try seperating the way you drive, Work/Fun

I GOT 18 MPG MY FIRST 300 MILES ND NOW THAT I GOT MY FLOWS. I GET 16 BUT I THINK IS CAUSE I LIKE TO HEAR THE SOUND OF AMERICAN MUSCLE. HOPEFULLY I GET BETTER MPG AFTER I PASS 1500 MILES
