The problem were having right now (as per the talking heads) is all refinery related. Martinez refinery is shut down due to a strike. A refinery in Long Beach is still down due to a fire. Tesoro has a refinery down due to maintenance. We get very little to no fuel from out of state due to the high refinement costs due to the blends we use. All part of the price we pay to live in CA! |

$2.37 here in Texas.
Try to hang tight, prices are supposed to dip down below $2 here very shortly with all that new Iran stuff.

Instead of being so concerned on gas why don't they do something productive about the water shortage?

I drove to Anaheim this weekend to catch an Angels game from Vegas... HOLY! I stopped in Barstow to fill up and decided Id pass @ 4.79 for 91 and hit a local station. Needless to say, the cheapest I found for 91 was 4.59 :( RIDICULOUS!!

A long time ago when gas was less than 2 bucks Al gore said he wanted to artificially raise the price of gas to 5 dollars a gallon. Currently oil prices are the under 60 dollars a barrel.
Guess what - Its happening.

The grocery store we shop at gives "points" for their gas based on your grocery bills. We generally get about 30 cents off per gallon when we fill up as a result. Premium when it is $2.50 here becomes $2.20/gal. Since it's the store we do all our grocery shopping at anyways, it's a win/win.

Wow, I used to love Vons back when I lived in California many years ago. In Texas, we have Randall's, which is owned by Safeway (which I think you still have in California). I think they operate pretty separately though.

It's $1.48 per litre here in Vancouver and there are 3.8L per US gallon which is $5.63/gallon and the kicker is I can drive across the boarder (20 minutes from my house) and save $30+ per tank and its our own Freaking Canadian fuel. Half of what we pay for fuel here in British Columbia is taxes.
Now, let the bitching continue

And our "great" government here wants to cut the amount of gas used in the state by 50% by 2022. I guess they will do what ever it takes to get the bullet train built

ITT: So much ignorance.
(Source: Native Southern Californian of 38 years who has lived in Los Angeles his whole life.) EDIT: FYI - the "Prius" and all those cars that you thank for not using gas, are the reason that California and the Fed want to raise the gas tax (because they realizing that they aren't making as much money because those cars don't use as much fuel and are a current trend). The real kicker will be when they charge you per mile, this is coming (California first).
