Post zl1 Power loss in 3rd gear

Hai guys,
I've a 2014 zl1 automatic transmission.
I drive it in S mode with the tapshift all the time.
From the beginning I've noticed power loss in 3rd gear.
Initially thought it was the traction control kicking in.
Turned the traction control fully off but the issue persists.

Problem:

Lets say I'm in 3rd gear and doing 50kph. If I give it some gas the car kinda starts pulling but suddenly goes down as if somethin is holdin it back.
But this doesnt happen if I'm in 2nd or 4th.
The downshift from 3 to 2 is so brutal that it makes the car off balance.

Took the car to a tuner but he cant seem to figure out what is causing the problem.

Has anyone had this kind off an issue? or is it just my car.

As of now the tuner said that the torque management of the car is turned off.

Any suggestions for getting rid of the above problem?

Awaiting reply

Is the car modded? Why not have the dealer check it before a tuner?

I've already showed it to the dealer they dont seem to know whats wrong.
Today my tuner put a cts v ecu on my car. The power loss issue went away but the gauges where not working anymore.
So had to abandon that plan also.
the car is bone stock...

Just tell the dealer to replace the ecu.

I am on second engine in my car. I mostly ran in s mode. I was having power loss when accelerating hard. Piston came out the bottom of the block. GM replaced every thing from supercharger to the cats. Second engine was still losing power on acceleration. Had it at dealer twice thinking it was traction control kicking in .
Srvs manger finally put his computer on it one nite and rode around with me while I ran the shit out it for several hours. He was seeing signs of detonation at different area's of acceleration.
The car finally acted up at 140 mph. The fuel pump flat lined.
He talked with GM and they have had problems with ECU and pin connector's. Had the fuel pump replaced and running fine since.

Take the vehicle to the dealer and have them reset your adaptives for the transmission and then unplug your ecm and TCM fuses overnight. Put them back in the morning and go for a long drive and drive it slow and fast.

Did u have the same issue with u r car?
Will pulling the fuse and returning back to stock tune solve the problem.
Actually by pulling the fuse are the load tables being changed somehow?

Curious to know.

Problems like loss of power or engine surge most likely have to do with transmission adaptives my automatic would surge and then come back. Have the dealer reflash ecm and TCM and reset adaptives.

When I go back to the dealer for a reflash wld they know that I was running a tune even if I return the stock tune to my car.

Just have them flash it, they have no business downloading and sending your tune to GM. Just pay them to do it, do not have them do it under warranty. it wouldn't cost you more than 80 dollars to plug it in and do exactly the following.

Reflash ECM
Reflash TCM
Reset Transmission Adaptives

Mine is tuned and had this same problem, they reflashed my TCM, and then reset adaptives. That sounds like your torque converter clutch is confused and your tcm has learned bad habits.

GM sent out a field engineer they test drove two cars, compared them, if this does not fix the problem make sure that the dealer compares it to another like for like ZL1. Their diagnostic tool will tell them the transmission is running in HOT mode, ignore that, all ZL1's run in HOT mode, it's so that the transmission doesn't freak out if you're on the track and you're beating the snot out of it.

Also if you have messed with the traction control module, make sure to have module flashed back to stock.

Thanx for the input bro.
Anyway have to take it back to the tuner to put the stock tune back in.
He has infact locked the ecu, so as of now no one can read or write from it.
After reflashing the tcm and ecm did u have to tune for the power loss issue to go away.
Is there a way for me to know that they have infact reflashed the ecm and tcm.
Can the reflshing be done in a day?
