1LE has rear monotone shocks, and twin tube front struts.
Bilstein shocks and struts are a monotube design. Which is better for spirited driving.
I believe Pedders also use a monotone design, but they are not the same quality as Bilstein. Pretty much all other shocks are twin tube. Most performance on track cars use monotone design.
As for springs there should be the V6, SS, and Z28 versions. After, that the struts/shocks are the only other difference.
The Z28 springs are very stiff, and use multimatic DSSV shocks. The are not rebuildable and are discontinued. I have not been able to find any aftermarket shock to work with the Z28 springs. Really no advice on that. If you are using lowering springs I would suggest they be stiffer then the SS springs, if you want to be more flat, not to mention you will lose travel according to the drop of the springs. SS springs are linear, so always the same spring rate, most all aftermarket lowering springs are progressive.
Best bet probably would be a coilover as the spring would be matched to the shock. Pedders makes a descent kit for not too much.

While not directly related to strut replacement, upgrading sway bars and bushings can further enhance handling performance. Aftermarket sway bars with stiffer construction and adjustable settings can reduce body roll and improve cornering stability. Contacting bds suspension customer service might be a good idea in your particular case.
