Square setup really gets rid of allot of the understeer. I am running 20x10 +35 off set all the way around with 285/35 20 Pilot Sport 4S tires.

I put the rear wheel on front and loaded suspension the tire rubbed the strut. Figure it was off set and the 43.mm back space

Another square setup chiming in here. 20x9 35mm with 275/40/20's on all four corners for me. Somebody else already mentioned, but a nice benefit of this setup is the significant reduction of understeer bias built into the standard setup. I've had my car right up to, and over the limit, and its very neutral, and a nice progressive rotation with a little trail braking.
Not to mention the obvious benefits of tire rotation.

the 20x9x35mm compared to 20x9x25mm, the 35mm is recessed deeper into the fenderwell correct? then that being said a 25mm would make the wheel stick out further, but not by much am I over thinking this . I just want to make sure before investing my cabbage. thanks folks in advance .

Correct, a 35mm positive offset backspace will push the wheel deeper into the fender, and 25mm less-so.

I know I need to read more about my car and get informed. the mechanical stuff to a point I can handle ,this fat old man laid on his back for 10 years working on a fourth gen so I'm not totally out there. just confused about tires and wheels.

Hey man - I still have to look up backspacing to remember some times. The visual reference helps a bunch.

thanks acammer , that's just what I needed. now the height issue with the whole strut thing has me pondering, so you're running 285x40x20 with no rub?

275/40/20 with no rub on a 20x9 at +35mm backspacing. That's a tire height of 28.66" on an unworn tire. A 285/40/20 would be 28.98" tall. A more typical sidwall profile for a 285 width would be a 285/35/20 - 27.85" tall.

not sure if I'm supposed to say this on the forum because of the sponsorship deal, I was looking at the new American racing ar992 wheels, their app shows their wheels fitting my car. and with your info acammer it seems everthing is in place. that's with the stock brembo set up on a 1ss correct?
