Vented hood performance gains?

Recently purchased and installed the VIS AMS hood (shown in photo) just because I liked the looks as well as the functionality of it being useful here in the desert. Since install, I have noticed increased throttle response and it feels it wants to get up and go quicker. Any proof to this or just in my head? I know it has some aero benefits but never heard of throttle response increase.

It's in your head, but hey, if you feel like it's responding better go with it.

not sure, maybe the air underhood being cooler would help, but it looks killer.

I'm sure it affected the magnetic flux in the area of the engine, obviously in a good way.

Us old schoolers know that even a fresh clean and wax makes your car go faster. Been feeling that for 46 years.

I did have a pilot tell me once that he actually did get a few more knots out of a wax job on his twin engine Cessna 414. So there’s yer proof! Does look very nice.

This goes along with the air scoop thread. I think under hood temps may be a little cooler and therefore slight improved throttle? Hard to test though. Looks awesome!

I would bank on this. If you had a way to check IATs you'd probably have a good idea of what's happening. Cooler air never hurts.

Actually it may not be in your head and could be real. But it's dependent on how good your air system is pulling air from outside the car versus under hood hot air. If it's the latter then a vented hood could aid in cooler air into the induction system thus allowing a denser charge and more oxygen molecules to create a more efficient burn and power levels go up.

If that hood is vented drawing air up over the engine as you drive its got to make some kind of deference. Maybe even better aerodynamics moving down the road.

Quantifiable performance gains? A minimum of two decimal places.

There is absolutely, 100% no performance gain from a vented hood install. Just to make certain that everybody reads this clearly...I repeat, none. The only benefit is a lighter hood and a cooler engine bay. I removed all of the insulation and other items that trap heat under the hood of my C7. There was no performance gain, nor was I expecting one. The engine simply runs cooler.

Some of you crack me up!
