The Z28 Camaro Concept?
So is anyone out there going to be as upset as me, when even though you love the SS Camaro you would rather have the Z28 Concept.
After you get your New SS Camaro home and locked up in your drive way and then GM Says that they will build the Z28 for only like 10-15K More just to compete with the GT500. Are you guys going to be pissed that you cannot get one now without loosing money on your SS?

They might make a z28, but I'd bet my brand new Camaro that they won't be, at least for this generation. GM stated that they want to keep the trend of "performance" trims for each of their cars... (E.G. Cobalt, Cobalt LT, Cobalt SS). So, this time around, the SS is going to be the Z28 of the generation, and the LT will be the SS. I guess you can call the LS the good ole stock "coupe".
Want a 5th Generation Z28? Toss in an LS9 and change some badging. |

GM even advertised the crate LS9 as a way to "build your own Z28."

I wont be too upset at all.......it would be very easy to drop in another engine or supercharge it for pretty cheap.

The minute this economy turns around and GM is back on track, the Z28 will be made for the next following production year. With money flowing again in the economy(if that will ever happen with the idiots in charge now)GM will get back to making cars like the Z! Hell, I bet we'll even see another bad-ass pickup like the SS 427.

I think if they do the Z28, that they would wait for the Camaro 45 or 50 year Anniversary in 2012 or 2017. Did I just say 2017....god that sounds like we will never see that date, yet it is only 7 years away!
ANd if it was another $10-15K, I would not be upset....if I wanted it I would trade up. The SS should have great trading power at a Chevy dealer. What's a few grand loss.

Won't bother me a bit. I wouldn't pay that much for a toy car anyway. Sometimes I think that I am crazy for buying this 2SS/RS but this 5th gen. is just off the scales when it comes to what an American car should be.
Besides, if I really wanted it that bad, I would just trade in my SS and get it.

The "worse" thing is that if they ever get up to their 80-100,000 a year....these cars will not hold their value as well.

There will likely be as many SS Camaros running around as Corvettes ... use that to judge the rarity
