Hard to refute that comparison. I expect that is why your moving to the 19's. More to the point, right on the nail head, reduction in unsprung weight. We both sing that song loud n clear brother! casa le taco bell!

I'll sacrifice a bit of performance to have my car look good. The yellow car at the beginning of this thread looks pretty bad to me. I couldn't care less what some 16 year old thinks, it's about what I think. Look at any high end car builder, Rad Rides, Foose, Barry White. They all put big wheels on their cars by accident? That's all they care about is impressing some 16 year old kid? Whatever. Have fun with your 19's, it's your car.

Yes, switching to 275/35R19 tires will drop the car an inch and it will also increase the tire to fender gap an inch. Those tires are going to be about 26.6" tall, compared to the stock 28.65" height (regardless of 18", 19", or 20" wheels).

You'll need to get your speedo and odometer re-programmed for the new tire size and you'll definitely want to get some sort of drop kit installed or your Camaro is going to end up looking like a 4x4 with that large gap between the tires and the fender.

Yyyyyyep. Already looking for the tuner shop that can reprogram the computer for the speedo/odo. Pedder's will take care of the gap, but you won't get a chance to see that because the only part of the car you're likely to see are the tail lights.

It would look better if you didn't have rubber bands on it, and lowered it a bit

The yellow car at the beginning of the thread looks ridiculous because of the extremely low profile tires. Looks pretty bad to me too. The high end car builders are building show cars that sit on carpet, roped off so people can walk around them and admire them. There's nothing wrong with that, it's what some people enjoy. It's not a performance specialty. If you like cruising at 25-30 mph on the boulevard, listening to tunes on the radio, enjoying the town that's great too and part of the classic motoring lifestyle. But that's not performance.

If you care about performance which a lot of people do, scratch all the above. Large rims, rubber-band profile tires are out; unsprung weight is out; lots of heavy chrome and colored lights all over and inside the car are out; huge, heavy subwoofers filling the trunk etc. are out.

People who go fast are not impressed with bus wheels stuffed into the wheel wells. I happen to think performance looks good. Instant throttle response; lighting quick off the line; incredible stopping power; flat stance minimal lean around the corners...those things "look good" to me. Acceleration and speed are fun to me, not the gap around the tire and wheel well. I mean buses are nice and all, even ones with fancy wheels but I don't want to drive around in one. I bought a muscle car, not a muscle bus. Believe me, I WILL enjoy my 19's.

I don't understand why the OP started this thread. Purportedly to tell us 19's don't right. 19's look fine it's the ultra short sidewalls that don't look right. I read through the thread but never saw the aspect ratio of the tires in the pic.

they're 305/30/19.
Tire rack doesn't sell 305/35 or 305/40, neither does Nitto,
the 19" rim just doesn't get the right tire.
Now, a 305/45/18 (Nitto) might do the trick. can we get the 505a in 18"
M/T 28X12.00R18LT (would this work?)

Man, that really sucks that GM designed this car to not look good unless you put huge heavy wheels on it.
