Ford Discontinues V8's After 2017?! What?!
Has anyone else seen or heard of this? I don't think it's true but still if it is GM and Chrysler may not be far behind.

Been debunked on several different sites, it's spam, clickbait and this thread needs to be locked.
Yes V8's will eventually go away from common production vehicles, but no one knows when, and if someone does know, they're not talking. GM, Ford and Mopar are all working on V8's still and will be for a long time. /thread |

...I thought the reveal video for the new Raptor stated that the turbo-6 it will be using next year or whatever will be the top hp, mileage, and light weight engine of choice in the truck models....that there would be no more v-8s in their truck lines....No mention of v-8s for cars in the future, or that they would be discontinued completely...
They just started this flat-plane-crank deal for the v-8s in the Mustangs....I doubt they will ditch it in just one or two years... |

I hope this isn't true and an industry trend. I think GM is still a V8 car company at least in some models. Nothing like a V8!

54.5 MPG CAFE standard for 2025. They are going to need to sell a lot of EV to offset. Get em while you can boys

Is it possible that someone took a statement about the F-150 out of context and the interwebs has blown it out of production. I believe Ford is considering (as in not made a decision) to remove the V8 from their regular duty line of pickups, but not the heavy duty trucks and performance vehicles. Until I see a press release from Ford I'm going to consider everything else just a rumor.

It's facebook clickbait. Don't believe it. That being said, CAFE standards are completely unrealistic.

The ultimate goal of the CAFE regulations is not to simply kill off the V8s but the entire concept of the petroleum fueled internal combustion engine. Barring a major swing in the political climate, 2018 is when the requirements escalate and the big trouble starts. The V8-V12s will be the first to fall and eventually so will the boosted 6s and probably 4s. Sorry, there is a large bloc of environmental lawmakers that do not want anyone driving for most any reason much less pleasure. They view the automobile with as much passion as they would a toaster or a fridge. Quit voting them in. It's obvious from the sales stats that these moves are not market driven.
