Reducing 60' times

Manual car stuck at 1.9 to 2.2. Would like to get down to 1.7 or lower
Car traps 119 mph with average around 117 mph but I have only ran 12.1..On 1" lowering springs, Bmr trailing arm, toe rods, subframe bushings, dss driveshaft, axles and Nitto 18" 555r.....Car either bogs or spins.. is it a matter of just a better Tire or am I missing something?

I would say you answered you own question (sort of)...... If it spins you have to much engagement to fast. you need to find the sweet spot for slipping, don't be afraid to abuse the clutch if you do it right when you return to your pit area all you will smell is burnt clutch. I had 64K on my stock clutch and always launch it 5000 - 5400. Never skipped a beat or malfunctioned.

Just need to find what works for you.

555r IMHO more like a street tire..I use the 05R and seriously considerin goin with slicks once I can fund it..slicks are for sticks! lol

and what Bill said above...drive that B out the hole like ya stole it! and don't get crazy with the burn out...no need to over heat the tires and to long puts to much heat back into the clutch when we least want it...

and psi..gotta let the air out...more than ya would think...good luck OP

you prob seen this before but any way...

555r’s Put psi at 18ish. Do a good 2nt gear burn out tell you see smoke rolling a bit. Take your rpms way up to 4500-5000. Forget the Green light. Just practice slipping the clutch and feeding the gas enough to keep the rpms around 3500. Your using the built up energy in the engine for the 1sr 5 feet or so.

Yeah those are street tire times. As was said find the sweet spot in launch rpm, tire pressures and amount of burn out. Nittos are finicky on burn out.

Sounds like I need to get a dedicated track tire..Anyone run a bias ply with a radial front at the track and does it get sketchy at the top end? Would a MT street R radial be worth the money over the 555r I currently have ?

I would say you need to work on the driving before you work on getting on more tire. As a couple guys said, those are street tire 60' times. 1.8x should be completely do-able how you are now, plenty of guys have taken 555Rs there or even better in M6 cars.

Something you should think about looking into is gears. A 3.91 take out rear differential form a 1LE is a nice option. Even better is a set of 4.10s from Motive. When you've got more mechanical advantage the launch is actually a little easier as it's easier to stay out of the bog as you don't have to slip the clutch quite so much before you can get it out and your right foot down. And then, you're gonna be in a MUCH better place when you cross the finish line - you'r probably banging it into 4th just before the traps now. Then you can think about a shorter tire to further increase your mechanical advantage when you're ready to upgrade from the 555Rs. Then she'll really be singing out the back.

This is what it takes for me to run a 1.9x 60' time on a pure street tire ($107 Chinese junk). 4.10's make this so much easier, I can leave with less RPM, get it hooked, and the let her eat. Once I have the cam in this year I'll probably add 1500rpm to the launch RPM for street tires. Once I get on a real tire I'll have to figure everything out all over again.

I should probably just go ahead and do the gears and learn how to launch them before getting use to the 3.45 and then have to start over.. and yes I am just shifting into 4th before I cross the finish

Especially with a cam, I think that's a choice you wouldn't regret for a second.

nice tires! those should make a nice diff!..last sat went back to the track..best so far and again learn a f load...

13 psi at @5200...hope to make it back this sun with my buddy's slicks...see if I can get the wheel spin down just a touch...1.6 or maybe a 1.5? or maybe broken axles and a busted R/P...lol...just got a used Metco D/S safety loop from a fellow c5 peep...sure wish my LPW cover got here too...just want to bust 11's on the stock cam and then...it's game on baby!

OP..you gonna do the rear gears? there is a 3.91 diff currently for sale...easy peasy! good luck!

BTW - I also had dynoSteve raise my rev limiter...kept hittin it on early runs...got a little paranoid on this run....the updated tune rev's to the moon!
