good idea or bad idea? possable wheel mod?

i was thinking of the old school cars i loved to see back in the day. going threw the boxes of old car show photos i have from when i was a kid.
and i saw mooneyes on a lot of cars.
so i was thinking

what would the 18 inch screw on mooneyes moon caps look like on the camaro?

i was thinking i could just attach them to the plastic trim rings on my car insted of having to drill in to the steel rims?

any one seen a gen 5 with them at all? i cant find a pic of it anywhere?

They look good at Bonneville or Monster Mile. Back in the day. Guy here in town has them on a 40 Ford. Not so much on Gen 5 IMO.

Theres a place by my home called hubcap mikes, they have 17 inch ones was thinking of going down there and maybe seeing if they have one that I could hold up to the wheels or tape on and see how they look.
I think on the steelies and white letter tires could look awesome
But I rather test fit for looks befor buying
If there 17s look good and I like them I might buy them next week on payday
If they don't look good then I'm spending the money on spiked lug nuts

Dude that looks really cool!
I understand they do this for less air drag from the wheels when doing speed runs.
Still looks really awesome

You know you may have come up with a great idea...Regardless of what other members have stated not only would it give a retro look it would aid in keeping the rims clean and possibly increase mpg, by reducing the dreaded rim drag...I forgot what color your car is but if you could get them powdered coated or plastic dipped the same color as your car, "WOW" is all I can think...Everyone would want to take a pic of you and your car...If you're not married it would definitely get you more attention from the females!!!Shucks I'm thinking solid black on my car would be the ultimate in blacking it out...Got to make sure I follow this thread to see how it comes out!!!

I got the Same black as your car. Such a pain to clean and mine has imperfections from last owner.
Thats what I was thinking a retro throw back. Now the mooneyes moon caps would be 250$ for the 18inch this hub cap mikes has 17inch. So at least I can go down and maybe they will let me test the look befor I buy his are cheaper. And there screw on caps. He also has others caps so could be in luck.

What I was thinking is because there boot mooneyes and not $200+ id be fine to paint them a satin black for the caps on gloss black for main body of the car.
I'm not a rim snob unless I find a set I want then I'm ded set wont budge.

Sadly I want forgiato wheels ....witch can run 3k a wheel. Or 18 inch 5 spokes retro style creger looking ones black with machined lip....

When you talk about "Mooneyes", I always think Baby Moons. Same thing or no? I would have to see them on the 5th Gen or have someone Photoshop them in.
