My warranty will be up May 4th 2013
I only have 15K miles on the car.
Oil has been changed 3-4 times. Rear differential was changed after only 8K miles. Only issues I had so far was my seat covers coming loose. With only 2 weeks left should I look for something before my warranty will expire? Your guys and gals input is appreciated as always. Thanks |

Yes take her in for anything you think could be wrong with her... last car I had was a 2005 Sebring I know its lame:( The reason I say it it is because I never took it in after the gas gauge went out and come to find out it's a symptom of a failing computer long story short my warranty expired at 80000. the car had 82000 when the computer completely gave out! 1100 out of pocket for being careless and not taking it in before the 80000 for repair.

You mean the bumper to bumper warranty, right? The powertrain warranty is 5 year/100,000 miles

With a GMPP, you're covered nationwide and in Canada at any GM dealer for repairs (parts and labor). (as long as the repair is covered under your specific warranty). Some plans also offer 24-hour roadside assistance (as with your new car and extended warranty one might opt for at the time of a new car purchase). These can be purchased from any GM dealer's finance department. You may want to shop around at different dealers to see which one will offer you the best deal as plan cost IS negotiable. I purchased the Major Guard plan over 7 years and 48k miles (I believe) for one of my vehicles which I only drive about 4k miles / year. Cost around $1600 (if memory serves me correctly). Read up on it. As someone mentioned, one costly repair over the life of the warranty and the plan will have paid for itself. If you do puchase an extended warranty, you may or may not ever need it. However, it's like insurance, it's there if you ever need it. For some people definitely worth the cost. For some people, it's either not worth it or unaffordable.

I would wing it, but thats me. Your first problem may be less money than the warranty costs, but maybe not. If its not your daily driver I wouldnt buy the warranty, especially if you are a little handy with tools

Not looking for an extended warranty since the are a waste of money IMHO.
I know lots of people love em but it is not for me. I was trying to get some advise on what other members had issues with after their bumper to bumper warranty was up. Thanks for all the replies. |

If you want to extend your warranty look into GMPP (GM Protection Plan). Many dealers don't openly offer it (they want to sell you their own BS warranty or whatever company they are in cahoot's with). GMPP is the closest thing to the factory warranty and is nearly "bumper to bumper". GMPP pricing is competitive too.
I purchased a 7/72K on my 2010 Silverado, ended up trading that in for the Camaro and got a $1900 refund from GMPP for the years I didn't use on the Silverado. It's also transferable. Our 2011 Acadia has 8/84K on it and I believe it was about $2500, so $2500 for an additional 5YR/48K miles bumper to bumper. Another thing to look into is buying the warranty "out of state". I purchased mine from Abernathy Chevrolet (in VA if I remember correctly), this way I didn't have to pay NY Sales Tax and the prices are just significantly lower in general for some reason. They also have payment plans and such if you don't have the money up front. Hope this information helps. |
