Request for Help and Photos After Bodywork Repair
I recently had to have a minor bodywork repair done to my Z/28, and I will be taking the car back to the shop because there are some items that weren't fixed correctly.
I am wondering if anyone could help me with some photos of their cars so I can tell what it's supposed to look like when everything is back together correctly. It would be great if anyone could post some photos of a few areas of their car: - A photo of the fog light blanks on the front bumper. Mine are back in place, but there are open screw holes at the top of the black plastic that look like they should have a finishing piece that's now missing on both sides, but I can't tell if that was open from factory. (image1) -A photo of your fender liner fitment. Specifically, does your plastic liner tuck in behind the metal fender lip, or does it go over the metal lip of the fender? Also, can you see the back/underside of the fender flares? I'm looking at mine behind the wheel, and the painted metal is in front of the plastic liner on one side, and there's a gap big enough to put my hand through on the other side. I can also see the underside of the flare easily. (Images 2-5) -A photo of the brake ducts in the front grille and whether the lip goes over or under the other plastic panels. Mine have the brake duct tabs (towards the center of the car in the grille) overlapping the plastic panels, but it looks goofy. (image6) - A photo of your wiring harness that goes over the passenger side strut tower. Mine has what looks like a push pin on the underside that should go into a hole on the strut tower, but it's neither attached, nor can I seem to push it in. It just sits with the push pin in the hole loose. (image7) Also, from what I can tell, the shop didn't use double sided tape to put the fender flares back on, but used some kind of glue or silicone instead. Is that something I need them to redo so I can remove the bumper in the future? The fender flares are pulling away from the fenders already. Finally, does anyone know the size or where to buy the plastic push tabs that are used in the fender liner? I am missing at least three of those. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Can confirm, mine looks all the same. Just the wiring harness looks like it does get pushed in a little more than yours

The push pin on the wiring harness on mine is all the way in and tight.
Fog light hole is open like yours. Inner fender liner goes behind the metal lip all the way around. As far as fitment you say a hole big enough to put your hand through on one side. Do you mean there's a difference between the driver's side and passenger's side or front and back on the same front fender? I see no hole/gap big enough to fit a hand through but I do notice the front has a small gap compared to the rear of the same fender. I'll post picts but are hard to figure out what ur looking at with the fender picts. At least for me it is. Brake duct photo attached and should be self explanatory. I can see a small portion under the fender flares, but nothing as much as yours. Hope this helps. Craig

Just a quick follow up, it looks like in your 3rd and 4th photos there is a little gap between the plastic fender liner and the lip of the fender. Mine has no gaps on the driver's side, but the passenger side still has a gap after having them re-attach the fender liner. Before I could put my whole hand up, now it's about a quarter-inch opening. It could just be that is normal on these cars. |

I had the car redone. The only potential issue I see now is that I still have a small gap between the lip of my fender and my fender liner. I've included a couple photos below that are clearer. You can see the gap in the mirror that's resting on the tire, so it's looking at the inner side of the fender around the wheel opening where there is that little lip the fender liner would fit behind. It's far better than when I got the car back initially. Before I could fit my entire hand up between the liner and the fender, now it's only about a quarter inch. I'm not sure it's meaningful or if I need to try and readjust the liner to get a flush fit. |

I believe the fit of some of these liners were not the best from the factory; I think you could undo the faster and move the liner flush under the lip. You may need to punch a new hole to get the faster through to secure the liner but then it will be perfect.

Yea, I see your issue. It would be nice to have the gap closed but how much hassle is it worth I suppose? Good luck regardless!
