another video of (my) z28 on track
I like this version where you can see the steering wheel.
I've also made a version with reversed videos

Nice, thanks for sharing. What driving mode are you using? Looks like you have more sliding than I do when I use Mode 5 (Race) on the track.

It seems to me that any mode below that blocks you from trailbraking too much, so I can't rotate the car well when entering the corners. Race gives me the freedom to do so... as for sliding under power, race allows you to gradually lose traction if you are gentle with inputs... it stops you (cuts power) if you slam on the accelerator, but if you gradually lose traction by being gentle, it allows you to slip quite a bit. From the video you can't see that, but I was using the torque (and LSD) to turn the car under acceleration, the best example is the last corner, where I do a "big" oversteer... I was turning through power and then I just gave it a bit too much so I had to countersteer. The "race" mode is really a fantastic setting (in the dry).

How many miles on your Z28? Do you have any additional modifications and/or cooling mods? I have a 2010 swapped LS7. My first one didn't last long. I have plans to do some HPDE or Auto x, but am concerned with engine wear, detonation etc. |

modifications: replaced heads with MAST factory heads + installed TSP BFD cam & 2" Kooks headers. Downgraded brakes from carboceramic disks with steel ones. Brey-Krause harness bar and 4 point Scroth harness. About your concerns: you can get a VERY reliable engine with a few steps, but it really depends on your budget. Minimum activity is to replace heads. Might not be necessary but you never know. this is the only way to get rid of the chance of having a valve drop. If you have the budget, I'd consider going for forged pistons and rods when you replace heads. It's expensive but having a stronger and lighter piston+rod set does wonders to reliability. as long as you don't try to squeeze power from the high end of this engine, reliability is not a concern.
